I got a similar answer from Aomei. I referred them to the thread on failed UEFI restores and haven't gotten a further reply yet.

They do give away the pro versions of their software on a regular basis. I got partition assistant first in a giveaway and then tried Backupper when they only had a free version. What appealed to me was the interface and that it worked for what I wanted to do with it. I liked the lack of advertising and pushiness to upgrade to a paid version. Compared to other free imaging apps it was extremely polite. Since then, it has improved vastly and I hope the UEFI restore issue is sorted out in the next version.

    MisterB,

AOMEI is very easy to use in backup and restore mode. I like it.

Agreed. If AOMEI really can solve all these issue, it is actually a good imaging app, especially for imaging newbies.

Agreed, a disk imaging app should possess features of restoring UEFI image to empty disk. Hope AOMEI can fix this issue soon. Their free backupper actually offers very generous features.

Nice. It now passes the test of restoring a disk image of a UEFI Win8.1 system to a new, empty HD.

Good to hear. I wonder how much you posting the UEFI restore problem and couple of us emailing Aomei with links to the thread helped fix this.

i did a recent backup with the final build and the image was verified as okay.

what i'm not sure about is when i go to recovery, what is the system recovery tick box located there ? anyone know.

need to learn about this app before windows 10 comes out, cause i want to

    1. change partition from mbr to gpt
    2. restore applications and other files

    *update

nevermind found out from the manual (quite convenient by the way lelz)

    ok so my testing.....

    1. do a system backup
    2. i tick verify image after it was completed. had to manually go to tools to verify (is this a minor bug?)
    3. go to restore. left system restore unticked, then clicked next. it then prompts me that it detected the image file is a system image backup. I click no ..... then it asks me to choose a backup points.

I stopped here :} I'll test it fully once windows 10 comes out.

Anyway just wondering, if i create a system restore, but do not opt to restore this backup as a system file and proceed, can i nitpick it to only selectively restore say the stuff that was in my desktop folder only ?

Also if i instead chose to restore system file method, will the applications installed be usable as well ? e.g. MPC-HC, Foobar, chrome etc..... or will i have to reinstall those again manually ? (yes the apps are installed on the same drive as the OS aka drive c)

    I made a quick youtube video to showcase AOMEI Backupper 2.5 final :}
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1O-oF12BTrg

If you watch the video the GUI is quite simplified and clean. Has lots of "?" to further explain what the option is. And if that isn't enough, the top right has a "help" for further documentation which i found to be well made and easy to understand; even has some case scenarios explained regarding some of the options.

Another good feature is NAS support. i got 2 qnaps, which i tested 1 (not in this video), and it can backup to it no problem. Not to mention there is a task scheduler in the app, also some custom rules regarding deleting old backups how many days/weeks/year after the more recent backup.

Not fully sure it's related to Backupper Pro which has already saved my many times but since I installed V2.5 (Pro), the drivers used by TimeMachine V2 are no longer working and after uninstall of Time Machine, reinstall, it won't work either and worse, VSS seems damaged on my PC? Time for system restoration I guess...

Well they used to go along fine, until yesterday... Besides, I tried a few months ago to restore my PC using at least 3 different solutions (Casper, Time Machine, AOMEI) : they all failed except for AOMEI but restoration was not 100% perfect so I decided to keep them all, for various reasons and I added Macrium Reflect V6. I don't mind uninstalling Time Machine, too many issues, too often, but I am still left with a damaged VSS component. Some software try to repair VSS, I'll try them but in the past, only a full system restore was able to solve the issue.

Hi again, I uninstalled TM, reinstalled the beta version, installed Easeus TDB Home 8.2 offered these days, rebooted, Easeus wouldn't work, I reinstalled the lastest working TM V2 build (528 I think), then again Easeus and now VSS works again, all well as all other imaging software. Go figure !!!

I'd really like to test this app as a secondary backup tool. I have tried to make a PE recovery disk using both their tool in the app and the separate PE builder tool. Neither one pulls the drivers for my keyboard or mouse when I burn the resource disk. Any ideas?

only thing i dont like about Aomei is they create these extra websites like extend-partition dot com and backup-utility dot com etc.
kind of cheesy. i think Easeus does this too.
