The expression goes... "It's not over 'til the Fat Lady sings."

MasterBlaster feels that not only has the Fat Lady not sung... she's not even in the auditorium anymore :D

AX64 appears to be no longer "singing" anything..

Looks like she took her Chat Box off the AX64.com site with her. That's just vindictive! :p

Thanks Isso. I guess I can delete my AX64 .exe files now.

I'm for sure keeping mine as I'm still servicably using AX64. Still really like it, just also using Macrium v6 so I can sleep at night.

    Same with me.

Chat line is still there but it looks as if its not being maned. The message is that they will reply via e-mail if an e-mail address is provided.

Just received a response from an AX64 team member to my query as to whether they were still breathing. Here's the update:

Never, wouldn't abandon our users. We understand that the only way to redeem ourselves to the users at Wilders is to release a solid beta/new version.

We are working on this full speed and expect a new release in a few weeks.

One of the major overhauls we are working on (which is for a later release) is to revamp the restore mechanism, again. Hot restore is flawed by design, so is warm restore. We are now shifting to a new type of restore using "native app". This is like that dos prompt type screen that you see before windows starts.

This requires crazy good programming skills but we're doing it because we think it's going to be what will make ax64 work for everyone .

    Sorry for the delays.

I just can't understand them not visiting the forum and keeping us updated. Also the beta's that keep expiring is soooo odd. Something doesn't add up.

Human behavior. Most everyone at some time in one's life just can't face something, can't deal with it directly. Could be in a personal relationship, at work. Avoidance. Denial. Strategies we learned when young to survive. If I pretend it's not a problem or not happening, maybe it will go away.

Unfortunately, as noted in this forum, the problem didn't go away, but...well, we mostly did. Our childhood strategies aren't very effective as adults. But we still use them whether we know it or not. :)

But the team does appear to be working on it. So, we are paid beta owners and I am certain that at some point, if the product revives and functions as we want, they'll take care of those of us who suffered through this era. We'll see.

I too have just had a reply, all seems normal and Nathan says he hopes 2 weeks to another Beta. I am prepared to wait because this is going to be a good product. I must say that I am fortunate in that I have had no problems with it so far V1 & v2. Proper Hot restore will complete it.
Visiting the forum is just asking to get sucked in instead of working on AX64.

I received an email from Nathan that seems to show that nothing has changed and they are working at it expecting a beta in 2 weeks.
Not visiting the forum? I'm not sure I would, it is so easy to get sucked into things while the mind is on serious coding. There email response is faultless!
From my experience when all those variable names and values and sequences are 'stacked' in the mind, the last thing required is diversion. Now if they had a secretary, then that person might handle the forum. It is clear that they don't have a secretary because that doesn't happen.
More patience required, all good things come to those that wait! I foresee a time not too far away when there will be comments like... 'I guess I was wrong, there is nothing sinister or psychological (or dare I say that word...) conspiratorial about all this'

    Hi Enonod

I am afraid I have to disagree. Having a service business, I know, your customers are your lifeblood. You can't say, I have these important things so I can't spend time on my customers. You won't have any left. They don't have to get dragged into any here, just come apologoize that they can't take time to discuss stuff, but give us an update, and leave.

    Hello Peter2150.
I understand what you say, of course, and accept that you are correct. Perhaps a simple update post is the answer, not to get embroiled in endless discussions each time another 'poster' puts a view. Perhaps the real problem here, although too late to correct, is the fact that the software was released too soon; but it does work.
It is not as if people cannot backup their system using Macrium {free} and then take snapshots (with RollbackRx Home {free} or with InstantRescue[Recovery] {not free}) until AX64 matures to the degree required by a potential user.
I have read a great deal of this forum and find myself in a different position, because AX64 has always worked for me on two different physical systems (Win7 MBR and Win8 +8.1 GPT) from different manufacturers. I (controversially no doubt?) wonder how many of the problems read about are not caused by AX64; but I don't really have the time to get into pointless arguments with 'posters' and I am sure that they have better things to do than chastise me, after all, nothing will change as a result. :)

Umm, I maybe a pessimist, but didn't one of the last things they say was about losing a "very good brain"? But now they said that they're coding another restore method?
And by that, did they imply that they gonna need another beta users (us?)?
I really really would like AX64 to continue, but I find this news a bit hard to swallow. Of course, when the time comes, I'll admit my mistake.

AX64 also has always worked for me (between hot & cold restore). However, some of the more knowledgeable of us (e.g.: the one & only Mr Frog) had a major problem with it (and got it confirmed by them, I reckon). AX64 isn't just a calculator software, it works very deeply in Windows, and it wants to be a life-saver for every Windows user. Apparently it's not there yet, because it still dislikes some hardware & software configurations. I know it's easier to write for Macs than Windows (maybe :p) because of the hardware & software variations, but that's why they are the programmers & we are the customers :)

    This.
They could prepare an update and post it in these forums. It would take just a few minutes. There are so many questions generated in this forum that go unanswered. One can only assume they don't care or they are about out of business. Their last NEWS update on the AX64 site was last November. How hard would it be to offer updates there? It's not a time or resource issue.

I need to start by re-quoting Chamlin's received msg from the AX64 mgmt team just for reference...

"Never, wouldn't abandon our users. We understand that the only way to redeem ourselves to the users at Wilders is to release a solid beta/new version.

We are working on this full speed and expect a new release in a few weeks.

The initial BETA for this product was started on January 18, 2013 with its announcement by Isso... over 2-yrs ago. The first non-BETA product release was on August 8, 2013 with v1.1.996. Since that time, AX64 has been selling PAID LICENSES for 19-mo. for a flawed product that's recognized as such by the developers themselves in their March 2015 quote above (see RED highlight area). Not only that, they are currently on their 2nd release of this flawed product over 2-yrs after its initial offering.

The above is for factual reference only.

Now I know many of you have been using one version or another of this product successfully for quite some time, and for that success, you should feel very LUCKY. To me this whole effort by AX64 has never felt like product development, it has always felt like a technical hobby. There have been many both BETA and production releases that have not worked properly and had to be fixed immediately, and many others that broke existing working users and made others start to work well. These releases represent a total lack of product pre-release testing, or at best, a testing script (if one even exists) that is far from sufficient to guarantee even a modicum of "feel good" when the release was made. I feel this team just doesn't have a good method for proper production release testing and that leads me to say what I did above... this is a hobby for them, not responsible project development. Developers have come and gone (Isso, etc.) and others, very important to the effort, have recently left the fold... this does not bode well for its eventual outcome. And having been referenced by our 5th Dimension Imp above (Mxyzptlk), with one of their most important developers having fled the scene recently, here they are (still yet in "hobby" mode) trying to develop yet another "flawless" method to allow their product to restore correctly in some sort of HOT or WARM mode.

Based on the information above, I would think a RETURN OF LICENSE FEE would be due every single license holder at this time... and that doesn't even take in account the false promised working features that have always been in their advertising and have never worked according to their own evaluation of the product.
All I can say is feel free to PAY for this hobby effort if you wish, but be prepared to constantly be in BETA (Alpha?) test mode at all times, at least in the near future.

I respect the Dev team's effort to bring this product to fruition and wish them all the best (not LUCK, though, as that shouldn't be the basis for any development effort). As I always have, I will monitor their effort from here at Wilders but will not consider this product as viable for quite some time. I am encouraged by their desire to move the attempted restore method into the "native app" mode... that may be the only thing that allows this application to ever work properly as originally promised.

I would be happy as a license holder if they would just re release beta 548 so it would take the v2 key. These guys are......
