I wrote a program for one of my users some years ago which has been running without problems until he installed Norton 360 security Since then Norton persists in deleting it every time it detects it on his machine Upon investigation I discovered that it was being logged as a SONAR Heuristic 130 error Even though I added my program to 'Programs allowed to access the Internet' and gave it full permissions this did not resolve anything Note the program does not access the internet but does connect to a server using sockets on the Local LAN I personally do not user Norton so I am a loss as to how to instruct it to accept my program Any ideas Many thanks
Norton 360 is outdated, so he may want to upgrade to Norton 2015 which is a vastly superior product offering, and 'Exclude All' works wonders in Norton 2015. I know Norton has 2 areas to make exclusions, make sure it is entered into both areas, and also it's entered into the firewall rules. Norton has a potent (and picky) Firewall.
You did not say if you excluded your program from SONAR and the normal scans. I'm assuming you can still do this...been a while since I used Norton(switched to ESET). When SONAR was first introduced Norton would assume any program written using the same program used by many creators of viruses was bad and would simply delete it. I ended up disabling it for quite a while until they made it less paranoid.
