Would it be a bad idea to uninstall Panda while it has all my dll and other files held hostage?

 

I think they recommend you don't uninstall it just yet.

 

Yes, a bad idea because uninstalling also deletes the quarantine.
Can't they be restored from quarantine yet?
If not I would wait for their tool soon (I hope) to be released.

I have the free version and my trouble is when I open Panda it does not respond and then effect other programs and the whole computer does not respond and the doing a CAD takes very long time to open and I stop panda from there and then need to wait till it closes.

This is on XP Pro PC

So home they get this fixed soon.

 

What bothers me is whenever something like this pops up, I freak out right away and wonder if the computer is infected. Not realizing it's the antivirus program that's causing the trouble. So what happens is I immediately do a system restore which most likely wasn't needed. Something similar happened a while back while using BD Free.

 

Panda Free working just fine here. Ran several malware tests today on Malwaretips malware hub, URL filter, heuristics working fine. Bty - the URL filter works even when the toolbar is disabled and out of sight.

Microsoft, Kaspersky, Norton, Sophos, Avira and MBAM have all released borked up signatures that bricked machines. It does happen. But still, somebody at Panda needs to be accountable.

Guess I'm going to have to start paying for an antivirus program, unless those are susceptible to these kind of problems as well.

 

They came out with a solution, but does not work for me.

I tried installing the recovery exe and got this message:
If this program didn't install correctly, try reinstalling using settings that are compatible with this version of Windows.

Then gives a couple options:
Reinstall using recommended settings
This program installed correctly

Now is probably a good time to stick with Panda. They will probably develop all sorts of new controls and signature test policies... and this probably won't happen at Panda again for a long long time.

I got Panda because Avast screwed up my PC .

Panda is not even working.

Just ran the "EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!" twice.

Panda did nothing.

I got SUPERAntiSpyware Professional and it catches it right away.

If I was to have to pay I think I would get Emsisoft Anti-Malware because I have had the paid version I got free from gave a ways more then once and they keep getting better. Get it Emsisoft Internet Security because I got Emsisoft Online Armor and used it for years so get both for less.

 

Now I've got to figure out this copy of Windows not being genuine, which it is.

 

Scenario 1: The computer boots up normally

Please, follow the steps below:

1. Run cmd (command line) as administrator.
2. From the cmd window, type in the following and press Enter after each command.
   
   sc stop psinprot
   sc stop psinaflt
   sc stop nanoservicemain

The first two commands worked. Third one failed.

This is driving me crazy.

 

After I type in the third command and press enter I get this message:
The requested control is not valid for this service.

 

Somehow the message about Windows not being a genuine copy disappeared. But now I keep getting the PSUAMain.exe - Bad Image pop-up. I'm at a crossroads about what to do. If I uninstall Panda and it has files in the quarantine, potentially I'll have a worse problem than now.

Lesson: No antivirus vendor should take FPs for granted.

 

It'd be nice to possess superpowers to avoid these issues like the plague.

 

Still can't open the program to possibly check the quarantine. Perhaps I should wait for the next synchronization?

 

welllllll i just got home finally about 20min ago. its been a LONG day. i do not sell or recc panda to clients but i do have a handful that run it including one who is a lawyers office. i have been working with most of them all day making sure their files are safe almost every one could care less about the programs installed because they have all their respective keys but they did not want to loose personal things like pictures and documents (even though i repeatedly preach backup backup and then backup yet again some just dont listen) safe to say everyone is safe even before they got the tool out. today was a great day for business but a really BAD day for panda clients and i can say every single one who called me is no longer going to run panda after this probably ever again. i got some FRANTIC calls today.
