Pete and Froggie, thanks for the clarification,,,,and now that you mention it Froggie I do recall you posting about your problems with the beta.

My sentiment exactly,,,,and the same holds for all critical software.

Thank you very much for your concerns. My documents & data are safe from AX64  (well, except those in Appdata, but I try to do some manual safekeeping, if needed, before a restore).
Installers are kept in a NAS.

I would say your data is pretty safe with AX64, its not like there have been any problems with individual file recovery with the AX64 browser. You may get a failed restore but even if this happens there is nothing preventing you from recovering any important files from the last snap once you get your system running. This is very different from Rx. Sure you can recover your Rx containing PC if you have imaged it but anything after the image will be gone. In my mind this makes AX64 significantly safer than Rx.

Actually, it's not that I don't want to try AX64 for "My Documents." But since it's on different HDD/partition, and AX64 v1 doesn't have multi-partition support...

You can move AppData (or the entire Users Folder) off the C: drive if you like. I don't move it on my main computer but I have in test computers. It works.

Yes, I have done it before in another computer, and it does work.
But as I mentioned it before, I don't feel like to do it anymore (move the whole folders). I cannot recall the exact reasoning now, but for the last few years I only moved "real" user folders such as documents, pictures, & the likes.
Also, generally I only need a few softwares' data from AppData to be persisted between restores (e.g. list in downloader software, list for browsing session). The rest of AppData can be wiped with a restore just fine. In fact, some of its contents could be the reason for that restore (hint: broken browser profile) :)

Has this thread been abandoned? I saw that AXTM was on Bitsdujour a short time ago, so we know they're still there.

Not really abandoned... but this is a BETA Testing thread, and without manufacturer participation and only an expired BETA available, there's just not much to share anymore.

My daughter's machine had the beta on it (version 2) and it expired on 2/1 and backups stopped. I forgot it was there until her hard drive just crashed. I have a new drive coming in. How is the easiest way to get the backup set on it? She has her data backed up but this is to to recover the system/prorgrams etc.

I think I tossed all my boot cds thinking I had uninstalled ax from all my machines. (I am moving to Macrium now and trying the trial on 4 machines, so far so good)

Question which version should I install to make a new restores CD from? Or is there an image I can download? I assume to get it to work I will need to reset the system clock on the machine during install. Is that correct?

Thanks for whomever can point me in the right direction :)

    lol
It's only natural a vendor seeking broader market for higher sales.

But is the "broader market" in the know & also know it back to front?
It's good they aim for higher sales, but quality must keep up too.

    Hi

I use Windows 10 bulid 9926, how to create rescue media ?. Ax64 display error: "WinRE files wasn't found locally".

Camis, AX64 has never been certified for use with Windows 10, which as you know, isn't even available for purchase yet and won't be for a while. That error is telling you that it can't find the WinRE.wim file (the Windows Recovery environment) where it normally lives... the reason why... I'm sure in Windows 10 it's been redesigned and if even in use, it probably lives elsewhere.

Ok folks strange problem. My daughter's machine was running version 2.548, I had totally forgotten it was on there. She dropped the laptop at her business one day and it started up fine but the drive was shot. I replaced the drive and checked as saw she had backup chains from nov 11,2014 up until the end of January when the beta died.

I put in a new drive and I was able to recover to nov 11. But except for the the original backup and the next incremental all the other backups won't show in the explorer, his occurs both with the cd and the now with the in windows ax64 version. (back to nov 2014)

Is there anything I can try? I have the system clock set to 1/20/15 atm.
