This seems to be an absolute statement...

    But different setups react differently...

Revo (both: free and paid), can not handle well with installers that need to reboot!

Unlike uninstallers like Total Uninstall, Soft Organizer and ZSoft Uninstaller (this only do an excellent work for x32 native installers).

No they don't. I've tested every single uninstaller - even McAfee Uninstaller which was abandoned many years ago, and Revo finds more leftover files and registry keys than the others. If you were to do your own testing you would find this to be the case too.

Is the problem that the uninstallers don't detect these file or is it that they are locked. If the latter, there are several highly effective free file unlocking utilities available,

It has no problem in such cases. I choose no reboot, and then do the scan and cleanup of leftovers. I haven't seen any problems arise because of this, and I doubt there could be anyway. If you reboot after letting Revo finish, and remaining files the original uninstaller flagged for deletion will so be deleted when Windows restarts - Revo doesn't interfere with this.

Revo will flag any locked files to be deleted when you reboot.

I assume though folks, such as myself suffer from an incurable case of Bloated Registry Paranoia, that Microsoft strongly recommends against the use of any registry cleaners, disclaims any responsibility for damage caused by their use, and warns that they can cause irreparable damage to your OS.

Yes, for the most part there is absolutely no need to ever clean the registry. But, uninstallers such as Revo just look for registry entries specifically relating to the program you've just uninstalled. On occasion they find entries from other software, so it's best to manually verify the results before letting them delete anything, but they don't work let your everyday registry cleaner.

I tried Revo Pro but I'm not so impressed. I uninstalled IObit Uninstaller using Revo Pro but to my surprise it left many files/folders on my system. Furthermore Revo couldn't update the Log database. Anyone having the same issue?

EDIT: Uninstalled Revo Pro and returned back to IObit Uninstaller.

    Where is your professionally-published
    Testing Methodology and Results
proving that Revo Pro is the most superior Uninstaller
    regardless
of Setup (i.e. Operating System and Software being used)?

Yes it has, and can bring on serious troubles to user/system.

Well personally I've never seen any problems arising from doing such. I know problems can arise due to occasional false positive when scanning for leftovers of any program uninstalled, but that's why I manually verify the results before letting Revo delete anything.

I don't need any published results. If you were to actually test Revo against other uninstallers you would find it detects more left over traces than other uninstallers. Doing so will only take a few minutes of your time.

Did you select advanced mode in order for Revo to find the most leftovers? In any case you can't judge any uninstaller based on uninstalling a single program.

    An App (e.g. an Uninstaller),
    which worked for your setup,
may not work for another setup
    as setups are different.

That's why I wrote that different setups react differently.

I know many users who run other uninstallers
after Revo Pro failed on their setups.

I accept that Revo Pro works great for your setup; greater than any similar product.
However, this is Not the case with me or other users.

OK, another test done ... I uninstalled VLC using Revo Pro and it found a few remnant registry entries and no files/folders. Then I installed it back and uninstalled it using IObit uninstaller that found 173 registry leftovers and a couple of files/folders. I don't want to break your faith in Revo but my tests prove that IObit, being freeware, is better than Revo Pro.

Revo (just like any similar uninstaller) will work exactly the same on any computer its running on. It's makes absolutely no difference at all, since it runs the same scan for leftovers regardless of the computer of configuation.

I've tested it (and every other uninstaller) and found Revo to be better

You can not reach a conclusion after uninstalling a single program. I've just spent an hour testing IObit 4.2 vs Revo Pro 3.1.2.

Both programs often find a similar amount of leftovers, with sometimes Revo finding more than IObit and sometimes IObit finding more. However, on the whole Revo does find more leftovers than IObit. For example, there were a few instances where Revo found leftover files in the AppData folder whereas IObit found none of these. Another good example of Revo finding more leftovers was that after uninstalling DreamPlan Home Design Software, IObit found no leftovers, but Revo found 22 folders and 197 files.

To conclude, Revo is better than IObit, but significantly so, and quite possible there's not enough difference to justify paying for Revo Pro.

roger_m Looking for a good x64bit OS uninstaller.

could you provide a link, please, to IObit? Is it free of bundleware?
Can't check in the "hall of shame" as Calander of Updates is down.

    Thanks
    feandur

I've tried it before - it's the paid version of Geek Uninstaller. When I last used it five months ago it did not perform as well as Revo, and it looks like there have been no significant changes which would make it find more traces since then.
