I checked out the upgrade discount and it is very minimal. Still too dear for a 4 Pack license, in my opinion. Is there a 20% discount code available?
try this one but add the upgrade (already discounted) to your cart and see if you can add it to that: UW3-8XH-9S3
Probably because of obsession, I'll upgrade, even though AX64 versions 1&2 hot restores never fail and I also own Paragon, however, $4x.xx to upgrade a product I purchased eight months ago is a terrible (good for MR) consumer business model!
Well, am a bit like you in that AX64 seems to work well for me but I do like what I am hearing about Macrium v6 and in my view it pays to have options...but unlike you I am not a current user of MR. Having said that what is just below £40 for us in the UK (with discount applied) does not seem to be unreasonable for what seems to be a very complete application. So my cursor is hovering over the 'Buy Now' button... Regards, Baldrick
Hi Froggie, I have run the ATTO tests (much less time to run than I expected) and the results are attached. THe M drive is the new 2 terabyte WD Metal drive that I purchased recently. I also want to mention that my incremental snap today (also attached) was 2 gig and took almost 2 hours to complete. THe drive was plugged into the USB 2 port.
the thing is for me i never knew when or if ax64 would properly work or not. and at times when i needed it to work i got left cold. so far macrium v6 has restored anything i have thrown at it. like peter i have been testing it basically trying to make it fail. it has not. price is a bit steep imo now that they say this will only be for one year but in doing so im hoping they will offer a larger discount for the "maintenance" for the year instead of the 9x.xx it costs now to upgrade. since i have been using v6 i have not used anything else except ifw a few times (where my images were made with ifw so of course i had to use that).
Installed Version 6 trial and tried to enter email notificaiton setting for my gmail address under the email default settings and keep getting error when testing. My gmail settings are correct. Does anyone else see this problem using gmail and thanks. Gary
I have read this thread. I am just trying to determine if my situation warrants upgrade. I normally make a full backup once a week on a scheduled backup. It's on Tuesday before "Microsoft Updates Tuesday" time, as well as all other Tuesdays at that time. If and when I need to restore, it normally takes about 20 minutes to restore from the last full backup, which is located on a 1TB external drive. I have plenty of time and plenty of disk space for doing this and so far it works well for me. What would be the benefits if I upgraded to Version 6? Would it be worth the additional $40+? I also schedule a full backups using Aomei Backupper on Friday of each week, as "insurance in case something unexpected happens. I am not trying to be argumentative, but I just want to make sure I really would benefit by the upgrade in view of my present setup.
Thanks for confirmation. I seriously entertained switching to this product and this is one of the features I wanted to finally be using. I am sure this has nothing to do with its imaging capabilities but it is indeed an annoyance espically for a newly released highly praised and pricey program like this. But, will try the imaging part and see how it does and thanks again. Gary
This is a question which only you can answer. Just install trial it for a 1-2 weeks and if you see no advantage do not upgrade. By the way if their yearly upgrade plans turn to be true, for users that only need 1 license it would be a much better deal to buy the business workstation version with standard support. This way the next year you'll be able to upgrade with only $13.60 (standard support plan). Panagiotis
John... if you're only using this for disaster control (replace HDD), then there is little benefit as far as I can see. If you find yourself restoring backups frequently due to whatever issues, there is some benefit due to the DIFFERENCE restore nature of V6 vs v5 (FULL restore), but only in time. If the 20-min you mention suffices for all you have done in the past, then there probably no reason to switch at this time. The imaging part of this application hasn't changed a whole lot, it's the restore timing that is a major issue... and those of us who do a lot of restores, it does make a big difference in time.
Gary, when using the following, I find that it works just fine... (using the TEST feature) Sender's email: <your GMAIL address> Authentication: Secure Username/Password login (AUTH Login) SMTP Username: <YourGmailUsername> SMTP: <GmailPassword> SMTP Server: smtp.googlemail.com Connection Type: Secure Sockets (SSL/TLS) SMTP Port: 465 That works fine for me (I use an IMAP account but the SMTP part will be the same for all)...
Froggie, did you miss my post above https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/macrium-reflect.356309/page-58#post-2461873
Ran into some other problems and had to uninstall it but thanks Froggie for that. If I reinstall will try that. Problem - Tried to image my System SSD drive doing a manual full image. Macrium gave me an error when trying to create the image and I did a chkdisk /r as it directed. Ran the image again and all worked fine. Restored the image from Macrium UFD. All seemed to go fine. Then tried to run another manual full image of system drive after deleting the old image and got the same error from Macrium wanting me to chkdisk the drive. Even when I do this I see no repairs being made. Anyway, not trying to trash the product but this type of stuff makes me a little nervous. With Image for Windows and IFL no such problems like that yet. My SSD is an mSATA type in Lenovo x220 laptop running Windows 7 Pro x64. Gary
Getting ready to install on my two machines which have v5 installed, with the boot option set up. Will I need to just install over and (hopefully) not have to un-set up the boot option, then re-set that up? And if I need to do something with the boot, what's the simple way to do that? Right now, doing a v5 b/u and an AX64 b/u on both systems...in case.
Well Macrium 6 just saved my bacon . Some how I lost the mbr , did some checking and it said to use the 8.1 repair disk, tried that no go. I rebooted using the Macrium disk that I made, restored in 3min,34 sec. This version 6 is a great piece of software.
You do want to redo the recovery, so you get the new v6 on the boot menu. Just uninstall which will remove the boot menu. Then install 6. It's not a big deal.
I decided to upgrade from 5 to 6. A bit expensive. You can do the upgrade from the link below. Version 5 Upgrade Check
