Thanks for that, it does make sense I've copied your system, ie: GFS at defaults that runs at 9.10am. Hourly Incrementals forever runs from 10 am to 5pm for 60 Incrementals. All backed up to a Synology NAS in different folders. We'll see how we go, thanks for your help and advice
Brian, it will sure be nice if the rescue disk really works from UFD; I'm about ready to start the process now (will likely take a while to d/l the WinPE stuff. Oh, should I use 32-bit or 64-bit, PE3.1 or PE 5.0 - for the rescue disk.
I'm just making a PE 5.0 in Win7. Edit.. I selected "Enable multiboot MBR/UEFI USB support" as I have UEFI firmware. The UFD works fine.
Brian, sorry to report failure. At first I built a WinPE 5.0 rescue UFD and upon rebooting I got the very same results as when I built it on CD. I then built a WinPE 3.1 rescue UFD, rebooted and Windows seemingly loaded properly, and the MR screen + task bar actually stayed on for about 5-seconds! I really thought it was going to work this time, but no, it again rebooted itself.
Jo Ann, Sorry, I don't know the answer. I'd uninstall Macrium, reboot, download a new Macrium, install Macrium and try again to create a UFD.
I'll try that, but if I still can't get a working rescue disk, I'm going to ask Macrium for a refund and then look elsewhere (or maybe stay put with Active@ Disk Image)!
Yes, it will be no good without a boot disk. Do you have another computer where you could install Macrium to see if it can make a boot disk. I'm using the Trial Workstation.
Yes I can use my son's laptop, but shouldn't the rescue disk be created on the same PC where it will be used?
It should make little difference. Maybe drivers will be missing on certain computers but overall it should be OK.
Brian, I decided to simply rerun my installation file without uninstalling MR. I chose the Repair option. I rebooted (as directed) and attempted to build another rescue disk (UFD). I chose 64-bit WinPE 3.1. I then restarted my notebook selecting the UFD as my boot device (while keeping my fingers crossed). All of this was no different than what I had done several times before but this time was a charm. I now have a working MR rescue UFD (so I must have had a corrupt file)! Now how do I go about reinstalling my Active@ Boot Disk so that it doesn't wipe-out my MR rescue environment? Jo Ann
Having two UFDs would be easier. But in the meantime boot the Active@ CD and create an image of the Macrium UFD as outlined above. The image can be restored later, (using the Active@ CD) when needed. Macrium can't image a UFD.
Hi, Sorry this is off topic but you guys would know. I'm not suggesting anything, but while looking into renewing my Emsisoft anti-malware, they are offering Rebit 6 back up free with a renewal. Has anyone heard of it or used it? Any good? I'm staying with my MR, just curious.
Hi guys. I just upgraded to Macrium Reflect Server v6.0.476 (x64) from v5. Is there any need to make new recovery media?
Well, I was prompted to make new Rescue Media, but it has failed twice so far trying to create a Rescue Media CD. It gets to 40%, then it says "An error occured creating the Rescue Media". I never had this problem with v5.
Thanks for your reply, Brian. I just tried a reboot, and it worked. Do you know if making new Rescue Media is actually necessary, or will v5 Rescue Media suffice? Also. If I do make new Rescue Media for v6, will it work for v5?
Another problem now trying to make USB Rescue Media. I am having a bad run. No, it is not write protected.
