...and then again, maybe not :'(

The gold standard for doing this in the past was using ADOBE ACROBAT (the Professional development package, not the reader)... so that's what I tried. It failed miserably so I will patiently await Macrium's solution to producing a PDF-based document... and you should, too.

An annual subscription that is not renewable. Now that's weird. Are they moving to a yearly major release schedule like Acronis?

How did you try and do it. I also have Adobe Acrobat Pro IX, and I had no trouble doing it. What I did was open each page(only did 2) and then print it to Adobe PDF. It worked fine, just you get a separate PDF for each and every page. Then you have to splice it altogether. I just don't need it that badly.

It has no problems with single pages, but ACROBAT has an ability to do all pages on a given website, and you specify how deep you want it to go and how many servers to check when doing this. The # of servers you have to be careful with as some sites reference the rest of the world but for a "local" manual on a single server, there shouldn't be a problem. I've done this many times in the past without issue. But with vXI, it blows up with a general error after it's gotten all the pages during the web site extract.

I'm not gonna chase down the error...

There is a difference between support and updates to the program. Support is not free after 1 year, all version updates within the same major version will be free,,,,,,so anything with a 6 at the front of the build number will be free. If you want more than 1 year of support you need to buy it at the time of purchase of the program.

Except that WSFan's reply from Macrium said "For Home Edition users we are providing 12 months support, with bug fixes and patches,".

This could be read in more than one ways. I asked them on their forums to clarify.

Macrium replied on Facebook: Minor updates (i.e 6.0 to 6.1) are still free.

Hi Max! I've always made ISOs, then used burning software (ImgBurn is free) to create the media. I started doing this when I started seeing failures "sometimes" with direct burning options in different software packages... I really haven't looked back.

I'll try a direct burn for you... I expect no problem.

I prefer to save the ISO as an intermediate step because I also store it on an external drive in case the rescue media (CD, DVD or USB thumbdrive) is lost or goes bad. Having multiple copies of the rescue media is wise. Then burn the ISO.

Hi Max! No problem with DIRECT BURN or ISO generation... you may need a new burner.

Really looking forward to trying this great product for it speed and bakup job creation and scheduling capabilities and thanks for all wonder input here.

Right now I run EasyBCD on my Win 7 Pro 64 bit laptop and have several items in boot manager. When I install Macrium 6 and add Macrium as boot item, do you think I should uninstall EasyBCD and revert back to my original BCD before adding Macrium as boot item? Could I run into ocnflicts if I try to add boot item of Macrium with EasyBCD installed and thanks much.

I use EasyBCD as well. I added my Paragon HDM ISO to the boot menu. No problems.

Back that system up before you try :)

Normally, letting Macrium add the Macrium BOOT Menu item shouldn't be a problem... when it's finished, that item should show up in your EasyBCD menu. It is important that you let Macrium do this, otherwise when restoring a SYSTEM image while running under the system, Macrium needs to expect a certain name for its BOOT menu item so it can reBOOT and automatically select that BOOT option. I don't think it's capable (haven't tested this yet) of figuring out the proper BOOT menu item if there's a Macrium ISO in that menu with a different name.

But I expect it'll work just fine (other apps have done this without issues). And if it doesn't... you have that backup from above :argh:

Same here except I just let Reflect write to a DVD.

I'll mention this just in case someone missed Rebuilding before writing to disc. Initially it showed that my media would be V5 but after the rebuild (and download of more PE5 stuff 260MB) the media showed as V6.
Somewhere else it was noted that the V6 Recovery Media will handle V5 images but V5 Recovery will NOT handle V6 images so make sure that you rebuild.
