Me too. The installer wanted me to do a reboot after the upgrade. That was never required for me before.
okay so i reinstalled and now it states "workstation" not pro like before im not sure whats going on, i used the same download and selected professional during the install. i am getting a bsod with this version where with 5.3 i did not. im wondering what the differences will be between "workstation" and pro in v6 and if its worth buying the pro version or not.
For anybody that wants to schedule a backup but doesn't use a Windows password, here's a fix: http://support.macrium.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=12199
Macrium Reflect did it again , installed V 6 set up boot menu, made back up disk and usb backup 2 successful full backup 1 successful Full Restore removed some software around 1 gb of stuff did incremental backup 1 successful Delta restore, using delta and trim settings for my SSD time taken 2 min. Image size of full back ups 90 GB incremental backup size 1.5 GB Time to do a full restore of 90 GB 10 min. I have way too much software on my test system lol ..
edit: there will be a "home" version and a "workstation" version here are direct links to v6 Code: Home x86 http://updates.macrium.com/Reflect/v6/getmsi.asp?edition=0&type=0&arch=0&redirect=Y Home x86 http://updates.macrium.com/Reflect/v6/getmsi.asp?edition=0&type=0&arch=1&redirect=Y Workstation x86 http://updates.macrium.com/Reflect/v6/getmsi.asp?edition=0&type=1&arch=0&redirect=Y Workstation x64 http://updates.macrium.com/Reflect/v6/getmsi.asp?edition=0&type=1&arch=1&redirect=Y
So Frog, if I uninstall v5.3 what happens to it, i.e. will I lose my current list of backups that are on my backup drive? Also, is your method the only way to test v6? I did download v6 again from a link a poster provided and this time (specifically selecting x64) it shows v6 as opposed to v5.9. Perhaps that was my original problem!
The TRIAL will not let you restore your SYSTEM partition, using DELTA RESTORE, without using external WinPE... and the TRIAL will not allow you to make a v6 PE. You can test the RDR on a non-system partition with the TRIAL but that's about it... from what I can tell. I have a lot more to do (haven't had a lot of time).
Could someone let me know what the backup/snapshot schedule is with V6. I believe someone mentioned above that snaps were only taken once a day,,,,,is that correct?
You can add more scheduled backups for the same day. By the default it is one per day, but you can add more.
Odd because I was able to. Made an ISO PE environment. However, you cannot create a boot menu environment.
Looks like you have to create a schedule for each hour. The smallest increment for repetition is 1 day. Then you can specify how many incrementals to keep before merging occurs. And what I'm describing here is the Incremental Forever thing. The GFS thing is a tad more complex to explain.
It would create a PE but said it would be of the v5.3 type... which does not have the DELTA RESTORE feature in it.
To be clearer, a DELTA RESTORE of your SYSTEM partition will not work in a TRIAL version... it asks you to schedule it for the next time you run your PE instead. What I discovered is that the format of v6 images CAN NOT be read by v5.3. I tried this with the automatic restore using an external PE and just a plain normal restore done with the RECOVERY MEDIA. When I built a RECOVERY MEDIA under v6, it only gave me a v5.3-based WinPE which CAN NOT read v6 images. Hopefully, a fully licensed v6 will produce a full v6 media, but the TRIAL will not.
Hi Froggie Worked for me. First time it automatically did it, after that it was manual. But once booted to the re, you have to go to advanced options just before the restore, and check the box. Then it works. Couple of other comments. First, if I have to create a separate task to schedule intra day incrementals, that it totally retarded. I having gone back to Shadowprotect with it's Continuous Incrementals, I was hoping to see something somewhat comparable. Didn't happen. There simply is no comparison. Also I was hoping the the RDR would be fast enough I could drop Raxco's IR. Also didn't happen. Actually it's a bit slower. At this point, I didn't see anything for me to just paying anything for an upgrade. Sigh.
The fully licensed v6 dose produce a full v6 RECOVERY MEDIA and boot menu. The full version dose not see or recover v5.3 images. So for now I totally running only v 6 , done many restores today full and incremental Delta and normal so far so good. A incremental restored with delta restore and trim settings is almost as fast as AX64 was.
That makes no sense, how are you supposed to know if the program works as you wish if you cannot test all of its functions?
The only thing I couldn't test was the same as in v5. Namely you can't install the RE in the boot manager. Other than that everything I wanted to test worked.
@warrior99, @Peter2150... may I ask how you were able to obtain the license necessary to completely test the v6 version of this product... and not the slightly brain dead TRIAL version?
Hi Froggie Just ran it as a trial. Only restriction I ran into was installing the RE in the boot manager. No problems creating a boot RE, that is V6, no problem with desktop images with V6. I have never bothered with any of the file folder stuff. Pete PS. My RE CD did see the old V5.3 images, but I didn't try recovering them
