    LOL
as if the problems demonstrated during the last few Windows Update is not enough to alert them how stupid this methodology will be. I don't like this concept at all, as I always prefer a CLEAN install of an OS, with periodic security fixes only (small size patches).
With the new MS update method, it appears everyone will have to download Windows update patches with huge size to implement new features and functions. I don't like this approach at all, as this way your OS will grow bigger and bigger, and potentially more problematic when you change a lot of the running OS.

Normally I'd totally agree with sort of. When I bought my two desktops I had a choice of W7 or W8.1 I have come to trust the vendors recommendations. They whole heartedly recommend W7 and went as far as to say I wouldn't like 8.1 So I went with Win 7 A few months ago I build a w8.1 virtual machine, and they were correct. I really didn't like it. So infact I deleted it. When I decided to play with win 10, I upgrade to VMware Workstation 11, as it was designed to run Win 10. My first impression of win 10 was very positive, and and the more I use it the more I like. By participating in the early testing, by the time it is released, it will probably be a no brainer to install it to the desktops

As for security I am not to worried as all the security software I care about runs on it already. Exception is Sandboxie and a birdie has told me that is being worked on.

    This hasn´t happened with Windows 8 > 8.1 > 8.1 Update.

What I have understood is that the concept of "Windows as a service" implies that it will be necessary to download big updates occasionally, as new features are integrated in the OS. But recent problems in Windows Update can´t be automatically extrapolated to the future.

Not sure what you mean "This hasn't happened", but in my case, every month (almost) I update Windows, the size of the OS increase by roughly 1GB, that is after I run disk cleanup (Clean up system files) to remove redundant Windows update files. 1 GB does not sound a whole lot, but if you look at the size of main stream SSD (I use 128GB ones as my OS drive), 1gb is almost 1%. The point is, what is the point to waste the space?

In my case, size has increase about 4 GB in the last year. This period includes the 8.1 Update and the November 2014 update. This is an estimate based on the sizes of the backup images.

If we upgrade in the first year but then need to reinstall the OS what happens, back to W7?

With everything syncing across all devices and OneDrive it is obvious MS will expect those that update to create a MS account which I'm not interested in. I guess I'll wait for some guinea pigs (no offense intended) to update first to find out if you can get by without an account as I believe is possible with W 8.x.

I wonder if you update whether you will receive free support from MS unlike if you have an OEM version of Windows?

Thanks. I just updated to the new build.

The when updating, Windows uninstalled by antivirus (AVG), and now I'm running Windoze Defender, which is suprisingly being quite light. A service, tiledatamodelsvc constantly had 27% CPU use, so I killed the task. I don't know the purpose of the service as a Google search came up with 0 results. Also, I disabled the Windows Update service just as I did in the previous build, to reduce CPU use.

However even though I have managed to reduce the CPU use issues, I am extremely dissapointed with the new build. It is just not as responsive as the previous build I was using, which is extremely frustrating. I was hoping performance would improve with the new build, but I was wrong.

I upgraded to the new build (9926) and I'm having a nice experience with it. Better visual experience. Appguard is working with it so far. I can say for the first time I'm a little excited about it now.

I also updated to the new build. Appguard works fine, as does ERP. It shutdown EIS, but an uninstall reinstall fixed that so it now is working with the new build. I am really liking it although I noticed it is a bit sluggish. Still trying to figure out Cortana

I used the search box, tried Windows Update. Looks like it's in Settings.

I used this build. Not impressed at all.

If you go to "services.msc" and try to change a service, for example "Application Identity", from "manual" to "auto start", you can not, because it says BS like "access denied" and denied your request. I logged in as Admin, so WTF does MS mean? I do this all the time in Win8.1 and never had any problem.
This same thing happened in previous Windows 10 builds. Over all these builds, devs at MS did not change a thing. Shame.

Very annoying bug (most likely a bug). I restored my OS to Win8.1..

Edit: this was with the Enterprise version of this build.

I had no trouble stopping the hitman alert service and then restarting.

I did find windows updates in settings. Not sure it makes sense taking it out of the control panel

We just will have to see where this leads.

LOL, no one expect a TP build to be perfect. However, the bug I just mentioned in the current TP build is ridiculously basic. You need the Application ID service to enforce Applocker, and Applocker is commonplace for administrators to deploy over their corporate network. And what's even more ridiculous is that it allows you manually start that service every time, but could not set it to automatic start. I don't see the point. I can not believe they make such stupid mistake and still have not fixed it.

Is there an Upgrade Assistant app for Windows 10 from Windows 7 available. Did some searches and I can't find anything other than for Windows 8.1.

Well, we have a difference of perception and expectation. I believe part of the reason for calling it "beta" is to allow the developer, eg Microsoft, to release builds that are not bug free and not ready for production environments; they essentially state that in the EULA. A corporate network is a production environment. I don't know if you're doing so, but there are some people using these tech preview builds as their primary OS on their main systems. If there's any expectation of stability and reliability that's a poor choice IMHO.

I'm wondering if MS is planning on redesigning the whole control panel to have more of the metro look like the new windows update.

That's kind of the fun of this. Which how it evolves, and being able to provide feedback.

I agree. In fact, while looking around I found some navigation routes to PC Settings that led me to think this might be the case.
