We will see how it goes. It may be extended to more av's if necessary. Reporting FP is a good idea. Thank you for your great suggestion
Too many engines will cause too many popups with false positives. They should use only few top-rated engines.....
I don't fully agree. As mentioned several times in SAP beta forum, there're some cases that only a few minor AV could detect 0day malware, say one of APT against Tibetan activist which only Ikarus could detect at the first time. Many people might automatically regard this as a FP maybe after threw it to VT, but there're careful people who at least wait until confirmation. Also I have some experience of malware which escaped many major AV engines. If you manage to collect really new malware, it's not uncommon to see only 0-3 detection on VT. See also http://malware-traffic-analysis.net/ and you'll find how many threats are firstly detected by only a few AV (sometimes even non).
This happens much rarely than FPs. Put SAP in lockdown mode and you will not have to worry about 0-day.
You're right, but I forgot to add important thing in previous post. Now, you know, we can exclude FP prone engines. So what's wrong, though it will be even better if we can control all engines.
SecureAPlus and MAMB PRO both provide malware protection/removal. What advantages does one have over the other?
YES, but, they both protect from active malware. For someone who is unsure which to commit to...what features/functions would be the selling point for each one?
SecureAPlus is a fullborn antimalware where MBAM is not supposed to be used as such (MBAM build as complimentary antimalware protection). Besides, A vs B is not allowed on this forum so please refrain from it.
MAMB PRO is full fledge with real time protection, hate to disagree but you are not correct. Besides, aren't you an Immunet Adm?
I am, but as siketa also mentions, MBAM themselves have several times mentioned that you should not run their realtime alone... (Something about that MBAM arent a full fledge AV suite and therefor only provide excellent protection in some areas)
SAP can work with other AV but yes, SAP is a standalone full fledge AV suite. Remember that SAP has (was it 11?) top notch AV engines to scan all your files.
Yes. However you can choose to not installed the offline antivirus during installation, and rely on the Universal Antivirus. Which makes it possible to use it with other antiviruses(If you want.) Note: ** The 12 engines that the SecureAPlus Universal AV uses are Emsisoft, Avira, Sophos, McAfee, Microsoft Security Essential, ESET, Bitdefender, AVG, Norman, Quick Heal, Total Defense and Clamwin. https://secureaplus.secureage.com/Main/uav.php "Lightweight & Fast Solution in the Cloud Finally an Anti-Virus Solution that doesn't slow you down. What makes Universal AV even better is that it is entirely in the cloud. Not only does this make use of minimal computer resources compared to standalone offline anti-viruses, but it also means that it can even work seamlessly with them. Furthermore, it is simply fast. Enjoy full system scans that on average take less than a minute to complete. Now you can work or play as soon as you can.
SecureAPlus because of the anti-executable plus AV features. MBAM PRO was always designed with an eye to a second layer of protection. Both would be cool beans though. Regards Eck
SecureAPlus has multiple AV's in the cloud...but you should only have 1 AV on your machine to avoid conflict. Won't they conflict in the cloud?
No conflict as,as you say they are "in the cloud" and not all on your machine. Also there would be no conflict "in the cloud" as each AV is served from different machines out there on the internet totally separate from each other physically. So it don`t really matter if your cloud AV is powered by one AV or 100 as SAP on your system is the only one in use. You are right that you should only have one real-time AV running as two would conflict and that generally goes for any product. If they are doing the same job at the same time they`re going to step on each others toes and freeze or Blue Screen Of Death your computer. Good news is you can have different types of realtime protection on your system at the same time i.e. firewall, sandboxing, HIPS and AV as long as they`re not of the same type. More good news you can have as many on-demand scanners as you want. Regards Eck
