I'm glad to announce the official release of the new version of NOD32 (2.12). It is available for download from our website http://www.nod32.com/download/download.htm. Though it is possible to install it over the current version, we highly recommend that you uninstall the current version of NOD32 and reboot your machine before installing the new version.

NOD32 2.12 will be available as a standard program component update soon. Until the update is released, please do not "downgrade" program components to version 2.000.8/9, if offered.

If NOD32 detects a probable NewHeur_PE virus, we will highly appreciate if you quarantine the file (this option will be enabled by default) and send it from quarantine as an attachment to sample@nod32.com (it's intentionally sample and not samples, though both addresses work).

Uninstall and reinstall? What do you say to corporate IT guys who have to install it on 500+ machines w/ no SMS server?

I hope the download stall and connectivity issues have been fixed. I've been reporting those problems since 2.11b.

Nope. I reported issues about downloading files from fileshack.com (site uses a download manager). Still can't do it. Only way to be able to download the file is to disable IMON which is something I shouldn't have to do. Someone needs to get on the ball.

Also, WPA key renewal still seems to cause NOD32 to crap out and kill my wifi connection.

Uninstall 2.12 and all my problems go away.

Wow, I picked the wrong time to try to find a new antivirus program. Grrrr.

I thought NOD32 was it for me, but all these bugs! mks_vir looks good but it's so new, and I've seen no VB or AV-Comparatives testing of it ... so that worries me. At least, so far, no bugs, though it's not the easiest program to use because it's obvious effective translation is not one of their strong points. Perhaps I should have my wife talk to them. Born in Warsaw, lived there until 10, expatriated to the US, no accent and a literature undergrad degree :D

McAfee was my scanner but their tech support sucks.

Norton has activation and I won't buy any such products (plus it's a resource hog).

Looked at Panda ... after totalling up the RAM usage, 70+ MB? Nope.

Kaspersky and its ADS streams, no thank you.

    F-Prot has no email scanning.

    Sigh.

Can be expected with a Beta and development, no growth without a little pain... ;)

    Cheers :D

I love this new release of NOD. Many more options and it looks like they have the memory usage down a bit. Smooth as silk.
I was having problems with Firefox at times and those problems seem to be gone.
It might be a TINY bit slower than the previous version but not by much.
    Impressive antivirus program.
Also, they will be detecting spyware, keyloggers, etc. just as others are starting to do.

Bought that new license recently in good faith of the next release being soon. Perfect timing for the purchase. :D I must say that so far this version ROCKS. *puppy*

Well, I guess, but I'm a SW developer and yes, I know there's no such thing as a program that has no bugs, but it seemed to be in beta for so long ... and these bugs seem pretty severe.

To me I would rather it remain in Beta for as long as need be, until it is as close to perfection as possible...

    Cheers :D

A beta for a little over four weeks is not long in my opinion. There are certain firewall programs that stay in beta for instance.
Plus, a new service pack from Microsoft is causing problems across the board.

True, that's what I mean. If it's released, I wouldn't expect any major bugs. But it sure sounds like there are plenty.

Are you seeing major bugs with NOD32 2.12 on your systems?

I am running it on two completly different machines without any problems. I am not sure if the majority of folks are having any problems? No way to tell from just the few posts here so far.

Nah, I have it running perfectly on one machine, as well as others haven't had any problems at all. My machine is throwing up a consistant error message inconsistantly :D and they are working on a fix... hopefully ;) :D

    Cheers :D

No problems downloading here from fileshack.com - just downloading a Halflife2 trailer which is about 60 MB in size. Have tried it with both Opera and IE 6.

  21. Why are saying that this can be expected with Beta? This IS THE FINAL RELEASE VERSION..............is it not? That's what the title of this thread states and the download link goes back to Eset's download page....nothing about it being beta on that page!

I don't think he was commenting on this particular release being a beta, but that beta and developing software will incur bugs.

That said, it looks like most people are OK, but there are quite a few posts about connectivity, downloads.

I wouldn't expect to see this many problems (at least so soon) with a final release. So right now, I'm sticking with McAfee, which continues to update with SP2 but will NOT reinstall (I had reimage to get it back) if I need to do a fresh install.

At least unless it was a Microsoft OS or SP :D

Is there still a separate trial version? Can this new full version be used as a trial for any length of time?
