Again you say "we" but you said before that you are the only dev and no one else.

Isn't these "we" people only forum members playing around with malware and submits them to you for fun? What happens if they would stop submit malware to you, how would it affect the capabilities of the product.

I'm sure it will be hard to improve and get bigger if manual malware subs is the only stream of malware that you get.

Are you serious about the product or is it more of a hobby project?

I would say Xvirus is at where Malwarebytes was during their first 1-2 years, after that they become better and better and more popular and known in the industry. But there is a lot of hard work and serious R&D behind their success, it didn't happen over night. And marketing is not what made Malwarebytes what they are today!

Sorry if I sound critical, but if you think you'll be up there with Malwarebytes sooner or later, then you have to live up to that claim, as they are currently one of the best (if not the best) at what they do, so you have a long road ahead of you to make that happen.

 

There is a malware hunter working with Xvirus so submissions is not the main stream of malware samples, but there is not only users submissions, but also website submissions like malekai and metascan. Beat Malware bytes is the long term objective, I know Xvirus does not beat malware bytes right now, but as you said with improvments that is possible.

Sorry what that behavior blocker feature does is detecting hidden files in memory, because most trojan and virus copy themselves to appdata or windows folder and change their atribute to hidden.

 

Yes, but then they are hidden from disk, and not from memory. And in the settings you refer to "invisible processes", so that doesn't make any sense then.

 

This is getting interesting...

 

I was amused to find that it detected itself as suspicious with an offer to remove itself, which I took it up on, needing a reboot to complete the removal process.

A start up company faces long odds.

There are not many free AV products for good reason.

Mainstream AV companies that offer free products usually offer very basic protection.

And that is subsidized by paid products with advanced features for power users.

How are you going to finance your products? Nothing is really free and as you said yourself, you're a long way from being up there with MBAM.

 

Its difficult for a single developer because the field is already crowded and he's offering a product whose work has been preceded by others. Its hard to innovate and set yourself apart from the competition when you're starting on a shoestring budget.

Nothing wrong with it but it will take a lot of hard work to dissipate the impression its a dodgy fly by night company that could vanish if the developer loses interest or his product gets bought out by someone else with more resources which is what happened to the developer of Anti-Exploit.

We'll have to see if its around for the long haul.

1) What .NET framework is your application based on? (if any)
2) Do yo make use of VC++ redistributables? If so, are users required to have any installed?

 

So this is a MBAM competitor with a GUI layout and theme that looks like Avast...

Suggestions from the screenshots (and first, I'm a fan of the earliest Metro UI concept proposed by MS):

1. The "no chrome" concept doesn't mean a totally flat GUI with large or upper case characters and big square buttons. If you want to make your app "Metro style", don't just learn from the start screens of Windows 8 and WP8. Learn from Zune Desktop, Github for Windows, MetroTwit, and modern apps like Mail in Windows 10.
2. No matter which style of GUI you choose, pay attention to the layout and arrangement of all the features. The first screen should be informative about the current status, together with shortcuts to all frequently used features, like manual scan and switches of shields.
3. The font family and font size should be wisely chosen. Avoid using different font sizes everywhere (which I see from softpedia's screenshots).

Hey there Dani, I never used this before and I've looked at several reviews and........ they say it's fairly new and still pretty buggy. Anyways, what I really want to know is this:

1.) Is Xvirus Personal Guard officially supported by Microsoft (Security and Safety Center).
2.) Has it improved since v5.0
