I trust HTML5 more. I never liked the idea of how Adobe had a monopoly on that type of application. But I hear now that they are expanding their sphere of influence by joining "them", meaning 3 letter agencies, etc... Or at least that that's down the road. That would really suck because I've been looking for something exactly like this for years now. When there are no other options/choices, one must simply make due with what they've got.

    And I'm now/still using Firefox 27.0.1

If you don't use the standard New Tab page and for example changed it to about:blank, you won't see the settings wheel which allows you to turn the new Enhanced Phone Home New Tabs off, since it is not visible it the normal settings/options in Firefox. You can go to it by going to about:newtab(settings wheel in the upper-right corner) or by setting Browser.newtabpage.enhanced to false in about:config.

A few months ago something like that was happening to my Firefox. At first I thought it was the browser but then I realized that the mouse had gone bad.

It's nothing like that in my case but I do appreciate your feedback. I'm managing with the odd tab opening when I only request one and get two instead.

Tip: Type chrome://browser/content/search/engineManager.xul in the Address Bar to get a better local search engine manager than the search engine manager in Options.

Anyone else get an update alert for Firefox 35 the other day? Looks like they pulled it though, or it was an error.

The Mozilla FTP site doesn't have a release for v35 yet; the latest is beta 8.

Indeed, there is a 35.0 folder on the Mozilla FTP site with both stub and full installer exes.

If you wanna run Beta software in your primary Browser - then go right ahead. You should not have to pull Mozilla release from their FTP, which they frown users from doing. There are currently no release notes as version 35.0 is still in Beta.

Wait for an official release from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/releases/ Don't see it there ? It's still in Beta.

wrong, Mozilla always releases the final build in that link, that's why it says releases and not nightly, been doing this for years, and most of the major software download sites such as MajorGeeks also announce it a few years before it hits the main Mozilla Site.

Additionally, when you click on the About Page, it doesn't say BETA but release channel

and when it does get updates on the main site, and you try to update the according to you is not really final, it would find no updates.

If you have no reason to update then don't, but don't spread FUD
