I came across this website that is supposed to test AV's. Since I like using real malware in the past to test different suites, I thought it would be nice to try something non-malicious for a change. Here is the website: http://www.matousec.com/downloads/ The problem is that the directions say you need to compile it before using it. I have Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 but I'm really not sure what to do from there, if someone can be kind enough to help me with this? Here are the instructions they gave: "Security Software Testing Suite 64 (SSTS64) can be compiled with Microsoft Visual Studio 2010. Microsoft Windows SDK for Windows 7 and .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and DirectX SDK may be needed. It is possible that you may need to edit Microsoft Windows SDK's "fwptypes.h" in order to compile SSTS64 without problems. Use only x64 build configurations, Win32 configurations will not work. If the build is successful you will find the compiled tests under "_FinalRelease" directory."
Can't help you with this, but I wonder why they didn't just release a working version (with GUI) for all these tools. Also, they are more meant to test HIPS and not AV's.
I understand I just threw in AV as a general term. And yeah, they should have released a working version :/
First of all, don't use it on a real machine. Some of the tests included there will destroy your system.
I checked it out a longtime ago, do they also have a working GUI? From what I remember they didn't seem to do anything.
