The most secure Android handset is soon getting a special privacy-focused app marketplace. Note: I hope the Guardian ROM folks can match this effort with their own special app store for its own secure applications tied to its handset when it delivers its first models to the market and thensome. -- Tom
I am speculating and am in no way affiliated with GuardianROM but I don't think they will launch their own app store, at least not initially. It requires a lot of money and resources to maintain an app store. GuardianROM will provide a great scaffolding for a secure app store to flourish but with the talk of launching a "Guardian phone" and they amount of work required to create the ROM itself I would find it unlikely they would have the time to launch an app store. My guess would be F-Droid will be the best choice for open source apps for this ROM, or just side loading apps. There is unarguably much needed apps that are still only available on the Google Play Store like Redphone and Textsecure. Building from the source code is the most secure option for these apps. --Sara
