It puts the stuff that the cleanup deletes in the quarantine? I wasn't talking about it deleting malware or false positives.

My experience was, in the good old days, was Norton System Works, if I recall well, which had optimization features [pretty limited compared to today], it just worked. And TuneUP Utilities, I've had much positive experience on many many computer systems, in comparison to, say, Advanced System Care, which did cause me more harm than good [real trouble came from cleaning up registry keys which were crucial to normal operations].

As for Qihoo, if anyone agrees, next to customized settings, I'd like to try to have them implement "safe list", user defined "do not touch this, like, ever", which would fall under antivirus, cleaning and boosting.

I've used just about every single optimisation program ever written. The better optimizers like TuneUp Utilities, Baidu PC Faster and System Mechanic to name but a few, won't cause any harm at all, and can help speed up a computer. Some of the badly written ones, can cause problems due a badly written registry cleaner giving false positives.

With a system image or two stored away, I'm happy to try all aspects of programs. I've let Qihoo TS do all the clean-ups and optimizations offered. This has been done a number of times now and there have been no problems with my computer running Windows 8.1. Perhaps it would be different depending on what OS is being used and even what programs are installed but this has been my own experience.

It's the same on my office PC Win-7 Prof x64. I've bundled 360TS with Comodo FW there.

I realise everyone uses their systems differently, and it was her fault for opening TS up, clicking on the button, and following its suggestions with out knowing what she was doing.

But she has 30,000+ lossless images and IIRC 7000 HD videos on her system. By default TS/she deleted her thumbnail cache, it takes many hours to rebuild that. Software that updates, syncs and views content across her devices was also disabled. So it was just easier to install an earlier system image.

Maybe its just me, but having the option to, not install, hide, or disable speedup and cleanup options would be great.

That's the end of my complaining about TS. I like everything else about it.

I will forward your recommendation to the 360 team.
    That I can promise.
Whether they implement it or not, I cannot. But I will do my best.

Did they ever address how they rerouted Apple web traffic?

I have a question about the download protection from 360 TS ... should it work with all browsers or just certain browsers? I have both download protection options ticked in 360 TS but I get no message from both options?

EDIT: Oh by the way I use the latest version of SlimJet.

    Dear Morro,
We will add more support with other browser, gradually.
Currently 360 Total Security works with IE, Chrome and Firefox.

LOL Well since an apparent Qihoo rep chimed in after I posted this, I think it is safe to assume Apple acquisitions are true.

I would hope they only redirect Chinese users to fake Apple sites, and don't practice that with users from other countries.

It was chinese users only, under 360 Extreme Browser, which is so cool BTW I wish it was fully translated, but still can be used, which I do.

I am still waiting for them to make all the components of TS optional and then I may return to it but for now I am sticking with IS. From what I can remember since all the components are built in to TS they are running all the time resulting in it using more resources than needed. I have a portable version of CCleaner for cleaning my system and it's only in memory when I use it. The same should be applied to TS. Give us the choice what modules to install and make them all separate components that are only loaded when you choose that function from the main gui.

At present in Task Manager, there are 3 background services running for Qihoo TS (beta 6.0) that add up to 17.4 Mb, although I have seen it go to 28.4Mb.

    What does IS show?

How many of the engines are you using? Do you have both Bitdefender and Avira engines running?

Yes, just checked and they are both running. Turned them off and on again just to make sure. The 3 processes in Task Manager are totalling 24.7Mb at the moment.
