Just wondering if anybody still using what I considered one of the best open source encryption program created. I'm still using V. 7.1a and I'm still baffled at the circumstances under which this program was shut down.
Yes. The only viable cross-platform solution. I'm sitting on my hands waiting for Ph 2 of the audit report as well (a thread here relates).
Yes. v 7.1 And I trust it completely. Until I see volumes being decrypted before my very eyes I won't believe anything I hear through the grapevine. This whole thing stinks of a 3 letter agency putting pressure on them. And also that no Windows OS since XP can be trusted, rendering their software moot now. I would not bother using it on Vista, 7, or 8 though. I'd just use BitLocker. Not because it works better, but because it doesn't really matter what you use at that point... it's game over.
Guess why that's useless advice for the vast majority of Windows Vista, 7 or 8 systems in use or on the market?? Otherwise, dittos on #2, 3 & 4, especially waiting on the Phase 2 report. Cheers.
Same here. I also use BitLocker to encrypt UFDs. I create them in Windows 8.1 Pro and use them in 7 and 8.1.
Bitlocker has its place, and it's the only fully transparent WDE (with TPM) for Windows - and as a protection against (non-state) criminal theft, OK.
Yes. I still have Truecrypt to encrypt a hidden volume I have(sensitive data). For other types of data I use Axcrypt and one from here which is TheVault.
I used to have TrueCrypt FDE and System Favourite Volumes, but decided it wasn't worth the speed and compatibility issues in the end. Now, I use OpenPuff since my sensitive files aren't large.
I personally use DiskCryptor. It has some roots in TrueCrypt as well but is no longer compatible with it. However, the author completely took away file containers so if that's important to you, it's a no go.
Yes I use Truecrypt still for windows volumes because I have I do not trust Bitlocker because of the potential for Microsoft to be pressured to provide a backdoor. I have confidence in the audit process that has been done for Truecrypt. Most of my encryption is Linux though and for that LUKS-dmcrypt is the best solution.
Yes. Hidden OS with external boot-loader. Hidden Windows unable to communicate with the outside world, VMWare Linux Mint can. Using Eddie 2.7 from Air VPN to lock all traffic to the tunnel, via iptables rules. If you haven't checked out Air & Eddie, it makes using the VPN on Linux, A LOT better/easier.
