Great! That's what happens more and more, imo. Previous users of v12 finally migrate to the new Opera. Personally I'm glad for that because I'm convinced that the new Opera deserves more users. I skipped on Opera Chromium right with the first build (I think it was v15) and even though the first couple of days was like I was in another universe, I'm already accustomed and I like and enjoy it. Hope you do too. :)

    Yes! :)

Since v12, I was using Palemoon, and then Cyberfox. Both are great browsers, but to me Firefox is only best rendering fonts, and now Opera already have Bookmarks, and "Delay loading of background tabs" feature, can use µBlock, and... :)

It's getting better, and now can be my default browser without thinking about going back! :D

@rdsu add to that umatrix and further see why you've made the right choice.

I still think that Opera Blink is crap, the new bookmark system is a joke, and still no option to put tabs on bottom. In other words, too many features from Opera Presto are missing. The only thing I like are some of the advanced extensions, and it outperforms Presto on script-heavy sites like Facebook.

It is indeed a different browser. I am only using blink for testing. I found some of my problems with using older versions of Opera were OS caused. I'm redoing some of my setup at the moment and I have moved my forum posting to a separate laptop from the one I use for work and business--an older Xp machine. I found that a lot of the sites that weren't working in Opera 9 and 10 in Vista and Win7 work fine in XP.

I don't know how long you follow Opera browser, but if you do, you should understand why they decided to go on this path...

They were, and still are, the most innovators on this area, but they miss the train of the free versions, and when they wake up, it was already too late...
They tried to always use the standards, but also waste a lot of resources doing patchs to their browser works in a lot of websites...

For me, this move also was controversial, but it make sense because now they are more focus to improve their browser, currently adding a lot of features that they already had, but make new things, and also contributing to Blink...

But I believe those sites were also improved, or are you testing those sites today in Vista, Win7 and XP?

Definitely! I dare to say that Opera is on of the best Chromium browser. Unparalleled speed, nice UI, great plug-ins integration, extensions from Opera and Chrome store, mouse gestures which really work, best speed dial, smart integration of news etc. Obviously this is my view of the Opera browser, which may not necessarily be shared by others :)

No thanks - I will stick to Palemoon and my second browser is Opera 12.17.

They are same sites. There are some OS issues with older versions of Opera. Most of what I use Opera 9 for is forums that use older vbulliten software. I log on to one with javascript enabled and Opera 9 crashes in Vista and Win7. In Xp it works fine.

Well, I'm not complaining about this move anymore, but I'm very disappointed in the progress that Opera Blink has made. But lucky for me, almost all sites still work correctly in Opera 12, so no problem. The only thing that bugs me are the more advanced extensions, I wish they had developed something like this for Opera Presto.

It is indeed better than Chrome, but it ain't got nothing on Opera 12. Well, except for better extensions and faster loading of script-heavy sites like Facebook. BTW, is it possible to disable auto-update?

Yes, it has nothing common with Opera 12, the old one is Presto and the new one Chromium based. It is a derivation of Chrome, imo far better. As regards the auto-update you can't disable it officially but if you launch a shortcut with the switch --disable-update, updates will be disabled, i.e. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Opera\launcher.exe" --disable-update

Delete installer.exe in the Opera folder that has the the version number--23.0.1522.77, for example. Delete launcher.exe as well and make a shortcut directly to Opera.exe. Autoupdate is gone forever--or at least until you update. There is a way around that too. Install the update in a VM and just copy the new version folder into the main Opera folder. You will have manually updated Opera blink and preserved all your plugins and settings including the manually disabled autoupdate. The main Opera folder has all the previous versions of Blink that you installed and you can still run them. The plugins and settings are stored in a folder called Opera Stable in the path: Users\"User Name"\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software. AppData is a hidden folder and you will have to have "view hidden folders and files" enabled in view settings to get to it.

An Opera blink installation can be cloned by copying the Opera and Opera Stable folders to the same locations on another computer. This is the one thing I like about Opera Blink, that it has a simple and clonable installation that doesn't use the registry.

    I am still using 12.17.

For me the bookmarks do not yet work as well as in Presto and also I am missing Click on current tab to bring the last used tab into focus. This is the way the Windows task bar works. Cannot find any extension to do this either unless someone knows better.

No javascript toggle button, once javascript disabled in settings, no way to quickly enable it on site if needed.
ųMatrix is therefore a must have. (Linux)
In Chrome we can check sandbox status (chrome://about) - in Opera 26x ?

Using 12 is ludicrous, even from a pure security/exploit perspective, nevermind how it breaks the hell out of a lot of pages now. Sorry but it drives me insane to login to client machines with people that insist on this kind of lunacy.

Could you please enumerate some security flaws of Opera 12?
Recently Google patched over 150 flaws on a single day in its browser. Some of them were critical.
Opera Presto didn't had so many flaws over the past years!

It might depend on the predilection for the pages you visit.
I have over 200 bookmarks and none of them get broken with Opera 12.

I'm currently on Wilders and posting with Opera 12.17 in Xp SP3. Compatibility is much better in Xp with Opera 12 just like with earlier version of Opera. I was having a font issue in Vista and Win7 that doesn't happen in XP.

I will continue to use this version of Opera for years to come. It is a real masterpiece of a power browser. I'm not worried about the security flaws. I don't do banking with it or anything that I would worry about. Security is achieved with awareness and good procedures as much as technology.

I also like it that Google put their old interface on Opera 12. I actually prefer it to the new version.

    @MisterB

I'm also currently posting with Opera 12.17 on Win7. I can't confirm font issues with Opera Presto on Win7. At least not on the system I'm using.

On certain sites, I get unusual fonts that are sometimes illegible. It is worse in Vista but happens a bit in Win7. Torrentfreak.com is one.
