Re: my posts 86 & 87 in this thread...

I'm wondering if they're still on a 24 hour update cycle on the BD (and Emsisoft) defs? Even though the app checks for updates every two hours, the files on the Ashampoo server were up to 24 hours old. That places reliance for 0-days mostly on the heuristic core (B-Have) of the BD AV engine - unacceptable for a not-free app, giveaway or not.

I even tried blowing the latest defs into AAV and on the next update, it downloaded the older ones.

Even if their servers did now sync with BD, IMHO BD's AVC in Lavasoft's Ad-Aware paid products trumps Emisoft's engine. And Lavasoft's def servers are in 99% sync with BD. I'm sticking with LSAA Pro.

That said, AAV does have a superb intrusion detection component and its own behavior blocker, both with a more than adequate config options.

So, regardless of defs updates, a giveaway for BD/Emsi engines makes it a bargain.

    Cheers.

I'm not using it anymore but I think that it is the Emsisoft behavior blocker.

    Salutations,

Work with Sandboxie like a champ! The only thing, that I am concern about will Ashampoo Antivirus block cyrptolocker variants of ransomware?
If not what do you suggest?

    All the best,
