I just trialed the new version very briefly. I inititally downloaded the Dr.Web AntiVirus. I loved the interface for the installer and that it let me choose a few options when installing. However, after installing it, I discovered that you have to activate it with a licence to use it. You can only get a trial licence for Dr.Web Security Space, so before I did the required reboot before using their antivirus I uninstalled it and installed Security Space with a 90 day trial licence. Security Space has some features I don't need, which is why I always prefer to go with a straight antivirus rather than a full security suite. But, at least I was able get it to not install web filtering (I never use this), and the firewall (I prefer the use of Windows firewall as it has very few prompts).

I really liked the user interface, but it was not immediately apparant how to get the advanced configuration options. You can't configure the real time protection to prompt you for action when a threat is taken, and I found it had automatically quarantined two files (which were actually false positives). This is reason enough for me to stop using any antivirus. What is worse however, is that when I did a context menu scan of my Downloads folder CPU use was spiking at 98%. I stopped the scan, but the high CPU remained until I disabled the real time protection. I had expected the CPU use to drop when I stopped the scan.

While I've always liked Dr.Web as an antivirus having tried various versions over the last 20+ years, starting with the DOS version, this version, just like the last one I tried is too heavy for my liking. Back to no antivirus for me for a least a few hours, maybe even a few weeks.

well it is actually using less ram for me then any, repeat any, other AV I have installed. That is weird. But I actually find the simplicity of this version a very positive aspect. Kind of like how Prevx was.

OK I get it, you can not give exact details. For some reason I thought you was a Dr.Web developer, my bad.

Maybe in third world countries, but who has just 1 PC?

Dr. Web needs to step into 2014... Most of us have several PC's, and in my case a dozen or so. We can't be buying crap restricted to 1PC licenses, that's ludicrous.

During the process of buying a license you get to choose how many PC's you want to license and the per PC price drops if you purchase multiple licenses ...

    1 PC = €14.30

    2 PC's = €25.00

    3 PC's = €34.50

    4 PC's = €44.50

    5 PC's = €49.50

Also there is discount on that price if you choose to license for more than 1 year ...

    2 Years = 20% discount

    3 years = 27% discount

Even without the discount 5 PC's can be licensed for less than €10.00 per PC and I'm sure that if more licenses are required than 5 then Dr Web may offer an even better price.

Hope this helps dispel the myth that Dr Web is too expensive.

Not so. I have in all 5 computers and use a combo of different vendors on each depending on how its used and who uses it. On 3 I use a free one and it works out fine. On my main I still use, Dr Web. So really with all the options, being able to buy for 1 PC is actually going to become vogue, again.

I have 5 computers, 2 for myself with Avira, and 3 others around the house without any AV, just virtualization (SD) running for 3 years now without any infections (I do check them with different scanners). Dr.Web for 14.30 Euros is a good price for 1 machine, but without sounding as a broken record if they refuse to be tested, many people will just look elsewhere. Tech support is not a problem for me, in many years I had Norton, Eset, and now Avira, I've never really needed to contact anybody to solve problems, Wilders has been more than enough...

Now in many cases even if one needs the support especially on resolving infection or installation issues you still have to pay a big amount of money with many vendors . Norton McAfee AVG BitDefender and so on.What is the point of support then?
Wilders has been more than enough .

Doctor Web has very qualified forum where there are people who know the product and skilled beta-testers.

I was having a lot of trouble with a computer on which I could note load an av. I tried many and finally bought a one year license of Security Space 10 for $17 without customer care. I also found out I got a free number of days because I had bought a two year Android license for my daughter's smart phone a while back. All told I got 789 days for that one year license. It loaded okay and I ran a full scan overnight. It found 16 items, everything was moved or cured (to quarantine), and the comp is running great. Very happy with this new version of Dr. Web.

Are you able to see what the resource usage is vs. other security programs like Eset and Norton? Also is there a way to disable to auto-quarantine?

This. I think 5PC should be the minimum.

I don't know how heavy Dr. Web is in relation to other avs. I have experienced no slow downs in any operations of the computer. And you can disable automatic quarantine. On the top right side of the scan page there is a wrench icon. You can click that on to adjust settings. All you have to do is unclick the box next to Automatically Apply Action to Threats.

    Dr.Web 10.0 for Linux released

    November 27, 2014

Russian anti-virus company Doctor Web has released Dr.Web 10.0 for Linux. The new version supports a wider range of Linux distributions and incorporates an HTTP monitor and abundant enhancements which make it even more reliable and user-friendly.

The new component—the HTTP monitor SpIDer Gate—significantly improves the security of machines protected with Dr.Web for Linux. The monitor scans inbound HTTP traffic and blocks the transfer of malicious code. Also, SpIDer Gate operates as an office control, blocking access to unwanted sites, which helps companies avoid exposure to Internet threats and contributes to higher employee productivity.

The SpIDer Guard file monitor boasts enhanced scanning of running processes for neutralising active threats such as Windows malware launched via Wine.

Now Dr.Web Anti-virus for Linux supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, 6.5 and 5.10, as well as CentOS Linux 7, 6.5 and 5.10.

Furthermore, visual and audio event notifications are now available on a larger number of desktop environments, and support for Dr.Web Enterprise Security Suite 10.0 has been enhanced. Users can also now start several scanning sessions simultaneously.

Users of Dr.Web Anti-virus for Linux must use the updated distribution to install the program.
