    Hi,

I have some PDF and MOBI files that I want to convert to EPUB. I've tried online converters including Zamzar and software including Calibre. But no matter what I use the sentences in the resulting EPUB file just get messed up like this Capture.PNG
Is there any free converter that would make the sentences and everything as they're in the original PDF or MOBI files?

In calibre(latest version) : In the conversion dialog, select Structure Detection, and uncheck "Remove fake margins".

It didn't work. The sentences are still messed up. Any other suggestion to make the sentences correct?

Maybe play with Page Setup > Input Profile.

But are you sure the problem doesn't come from your EPUB reader ? Try opening your converted file with the built-in reader from Calibre to see if there's a difference.

You're also better off asking directly on Calibre forums, they have a section dedicated to Conversion issues/help : http://www.mobileread.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=235

Calibre should do fain with conversion from mobi/epub files to any other formats. PDFs on the other hand are not easy convertible to epub/mobi by any program out there. I don't really understand what your problem is. The fact that the text is justified left, which can be changed in Calibre before conversion by going to Look & feel and changing Text justification from Original to Justified or that there is no space on the first line of a new paragraph. If your original file was a mobi file and it was properly justified, I would try to view the file in Calibre's own viewer because Sumatra isn't a very good ebook viewer. If your file was a PDF and it got converted like that, you should try to play a with the Heuristic processing feature in Calibre, more exactly with the un-wrap factor numbers. It won't make a perfect conversion, but this is the best tool I've found yet to convert text PDFs to ebook format.

Conversion between mobi and epub should be straight forward in calibre and you should not have any problems with the default settings in calibre. The only time you can encounter problem is if the original mobi file was itself converted from a pdf file. Re-converting such a mobi file to epub usually causes the kind of problem you are listing. In such cases it is recommended to convert to epub directly from the original pdf file.
