I installed this on a spare HDD and have been using it for a few weeks and it has worked flawlessly. I uninstalled it after decrypting the drive and it leaves a couple of very small hidden partitions on the drive. I presume the mbr has been changed? Can I remove these new partitions at all?
Just use any partitioning tool. A simple free one (windows) is partition wizard. You can delete the partitions and then recapture the space into the existing ones with a few clicks. Easy as can be. You can use that same quality tool to rebuild the MBR and I would do that anyway since it only takes a few seconds. Note: depending upon the sensitive nature of the contents you may decide it prudent to wipe the platter and start fresh with no usage traces. Only you can decide if that is something needed. Many good free wiping tools are also available. I like Eraser, but there are literally dozens of great tools out there.
Thanks, Palancar. I'll give Partition Wizard a try as Acronis Disk Director doesn't see the partitions. Nothing sensitive on the drive, it's an old-ish 250 gig that I had knocking around.
OK (small drive). It would be easy to blow it all away and re-partition it (one continuous platter) along with rebuilding the MBR. Then do a good one pass wipe. I'ld guess something that size maybe ~ 3 hours you start fresh!!
Grabbed a copy of Partition Wizard and it sees the hidden partitions created by DiskCryptor, they are about 1-2 megabytes in size. As you say, probably best to start afresh. Thanks.
