    OpenSource IMO would save it.

Note: Only 188 or so people 'liked' the big announcement of Admuncher going free. That really seems to indicate almost nobody cares about it anymore. I get more likes on my FB page when I post a picture of a hamburger.

I've purchased and used this product several years, but now i can't trust this product anymore, even if they are going to release new one or free one(already), i don't want to be in 2017 (Internet explorer 15 maybe) and expected a new version since 2015.

Free one is available, check their main website. However note it's really nothing more than the same old version with the license validation code removed. Hence.. No HTTPS, GZIP, IE11, IE12(beta) support or anything.. So you are pretty much better off not using it.

With all due respect, I think that this program does have potential but only if the developer is smart enough to open-source it. From my understanding, version 5 is supposedly coded so that it can be cross-platform as well. I understand that it is behind on many standards. But if it became and open-source project, the community would be all over this and implement those standards much quicker than if this remained a closed project. There are, of course, similar HTTP local proxy software programs which are open-source already, but I think that this one in particular would really take off if it were announced to be an open-source project. The 5.0 code would be an excellent base for the project to begin.

I see that the developer has expressed some interest in possibly going open-source. Hopefully he sees the vast potential and the fast rate in which features could be implemented and bugs could be fixed if the community were to be set up properly. And at the same time, I also hope that the developer is able to make some profit still if he chooses to open-source it because he definitely deserves it with the work that has been put in thus far.

Have you read this entire thread? Have you read the Ad Muncher Forum? http://forum.admuncher.com/
Version 5, Where? It took them months for AM to go free. I just downloaded the free version a few days ago for testing and I'm still waiting for a daily updates that I had as a paying customer with the premium version. Looks like I got the shaft again, like every other paying customer with this company. :thumbd:

I'd like to see a screen shot of version 5. This post on the AM Forum was started last year asking for a screen shot. Where is it? Murray can write anything he wants on his blog, where's the product? For the sake of the lifetime license holders I hope Murray can prove me wrong and come up with version 5. I believe this company is at its end with all the broken promises, he'll throw anything out there now to get $$.
btw: uninstalled free version of AM and reinstalled Adguard.

I for one will abandon AdMuncher for one of the available alternatives after being a paid user for years once I upgrade my system which looks like a lot sooner than later. All information on Am v5 looks like Smoke and Mirrors to me.

Adblock Plus does me fine. I never see any Ads.
What extra does Ad Muncher give?

Yesterday will be written in bold letters in my life as I finally uninstalled Ad Muncher after many years of usage even if I'm having the lifetime license. I have not used it already a couple of months and meantime I found my happiness with Adguard that now covers also Android platform and iOS is on the way too. I was fed up of all false promises for version 5 lasting many years! They even failed to keep a promise for the free version that was supposed to be released by end of July as Murray said on his blog.

I'm not willing to waste my time with anybody who behaves like a child and lacks elementary decency.

Anyway notwithstanding my decision I wish good luck to all Ad Muncher users!

I think I found a viable combination for Admuncher.

Admuncher, then install "Facebook Adblock" and "Youtube Adblock".. That solves the HTTPS issue since those are the only two sites I care about HTTPS filtration. I consider HTTPS filtration a potential security risk anyway. This combo seems pretty snappy to be honest.

    Thoughts?

Adguard. You will have "all in one".

    1) In my benchmarks, Admuncher was 10-15% faster per page, so this takes advantage of that. The extensions plug holes in Admuncher, and 'most' pages load slightly faster than Adguard using this method.
    2) Not fully 'trusting' of products developed in RU/CN, but generally I trust Admuncher.
    3) Admuncher is quite a bit lighter, even though my systems are robust, I should consider that I think?

Overall still deciding for the final solution to deploy. I've been using uBlock, then Adguard, now Admuncher+Extensions. So far Admuncher+Extensions 'feels' faster.

I am dropping a USG200 as my UTM this weekend, that has adblocking in the router, so it may all be a moot point - depending on how good the COMMTOUCH+BLUECOAT Adblocking signatures are.

Test results, repeatable on a select group of websites, but the metrics are the same regardless, so the sample is small, but valid. These are full page load times after loading the superfetch and browser cache with 2 full loads prior to the test.

Admuncher (default + Facebook and Youtube Adblocker Extensions)
    0.70
    1.13
    1.02
    0.87
    0.76
    1.89
Total: 6.37 seconds for 6 pages.

    Adguard (default)
    0.58
    1.88
    2.33
    1.03
    0.97
    3.21
Total: 10 seconds for 6 pages.

    uBlock (default)
    0.57
    1.52
    2.12
    0.65
    0.76
    1.93
Total: 7.55 seconds for 6 pages.

As you can see from this sample, Adguard is substantially slower overall. But Admuncher shaves a full 1.18 seconds off of uBlock, which is enough to load 1-2 additional pages in the same time frame. We browse between 4,000-5,000 web pages a day in this home (25-50 clients). That means Admuncher will save a 'collective' 1.5 hours of browsing time for the household over Adguard. (factoring all of the clients combined, and all of the websites total). So as much as I hate to admit it, Admuncher is faster - all things considered - at least in my testing.

Have not had advert updates since october 19th. When trying to update manualy I only get the choice to download the free version (about two weeks ago I got an email offering me discount for renewing !!!!!).

I guess it is time to give Adguard a try.

Who cares about your results. The different system and setup gives the different results. Moreover what is a point of getting fractions of seconds in the speed when AM lacks the fundamental filtering capabilities (https, IE11 ...)? AM is far behind competitors. He was frozen several years back. While others have been continuously developing their applications AM developers rested on the laurels from '90.

I just installed after seeing mayahana 's results. Never had installed it before.
What do you mean it does not filter IE11. I am able to see it filters ads in IE11..Am i missing sth?
Anywayz, currently am using Chrome due uBlock and HTTPSB. No plans to change it soon...

@clubhouse1 , care to share your results..Just curious to know..
@Mayahana , what was the 3rd site in your test?

No, it doesn't filter. Read this thread carefully and also their forum. If you see something being filtered then it has to be done by others (uBLock or I don't know whatever else in your case).
