Tracking Protection is a new feature(available in Nightly) and isn't the same as DNT: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thr...-future-firefox-versions.367132/#post-2400183
Apparently the changes mentioned previously has made Pale Moon to not getting new updates for quite a while.
I can't add search engines via the drop down menu in 24.7.2 somehow. Is there anyone else experiencing this issue too?
It's just weird to see this happens out of a sudden since I've never had this problem in previous versions. Not even in other Firefox forks.
Tested Pale Moon 24.7.2 for adding search engines. Was able to add search engines via the drop down menu. Had to have JavaScript enabled. If that doesn't work you may have other preferences set that are causing the problem. If you have made a backup copy of your profile folder including prefs.js file you could try resetting Pale Moon to its default state (about:support) and then retry adding search engines.
Duh! Found the culprit. It was due to private browsing mode. Search engines can be added again now, even without enabling javascript.
Retested PM 24.7.2 to add search engines via drop down menu. JavaScript disabled and private browsing mode disabled. Result: fail JavaScript disabled and private browsing mode enabled. Result: fail JavaScript enabled and private browsing mode disabled. Result: success JavaScript enabled and private browsing mode enabled. Result: success How did you add search engines without enabling JavaScript?
I usually just add them via the drop-down menu from the search bar. It won't work on Startpage for sure, but on Wikipedia, YouTube, and many others it works.
Pale Moon was my favorite browser 5 months ago but recently since the latest update 24.7.2 I've been having many issues like websites not loading properly, flash videos freezing, addons like LastPass having an overly large icon. So I switched back to Firefox
Usually before I give up on a program I like I research the issue(s) and try to resolve it. Did you try posting at the Pale Moon forum or reading through the posts to see if anyone else is having similar issues?
Off-course I have, as I loved Pale Moon's interface You can try this for example your self visit majorgeeks.com then add it to your bookmarks toolbar now close pale moon then reopen it and try accessing the link. Upon the first time you click on the bookmark icon of Major Geeks, the page loads blank white, if you hit the button again or refresh it loads fine. Happens randomly but way too often for my liking Another thing, try loading the LastPass Add-On and see how the icon is very large, it can be fixed by changing the icon to something else other than the default, but the bug is there Thirdly, When I first tried Pale Moon v17, it smoked Firefox in terms of speed and page loading as it was more optimized for newer hardware. But as Firefox kept getting updated, and Pale Moon developer insists on using the outdated FF 24 ESR engine, all those speed optimizations are gone and in fact, Pale Moon is slower than the latest FF now obviously due to its oudated engine, I even ran a benchmark here Browser Speed Battle and Firefox always beats Pale Moon by about 300 points/ When I posted the first issue, all they say is their favorite post "start with a brand new clean profile" which I did and it didn't help. When I complained about the speed due to the ancient Gecko Engine they're using, they say it's just me. Unfortunately their developer who was very helpful in the past has become very arrogant and refuses to ackgnowledge the shortcomings of his browser.
It's rather hard for Pale Moon to catch up the speed because they're trying their best to avoid Australis UI. They might be able to speed the pace up if they're following Cyberfox's path, but it won't truly eliminate Australis UI. At the very least, Pale Moon is more stable than Firefox, for me anyway.
