Running IFW 2.91 from a batch file. Looks like this.
    start "" "G:\Boot_Neutral\TeraByte Unlimited\Image for Windows\V2\imagew64.exe" /b /uy /purge:-15 /d:w1@0x2 /f:"I:\IFW Backups\Backup_D\Backup-D-$~YYYY$-$~MM$-$~DD$-$~HHMM$" /v /comp:2 /rb:16

It runs fine, but it opens the GUI when it starts and the GUI doesn't close when its done until the system goes to sleep after about 10 minutes. It says completed and the runtime clock is not advancing anymore.
Could that be the wait for Phylock to time out? But why does it open the GUI in the first place?

    What does the log show?

If you don't want to see the GUI you can use the /hide option.

Are you referring to where to put the winre.wim file because the script wasn't finding it on your system? If so, you would make the folder for TBWinRE (C:\TBWinRE, for example). The TBWinRE script files would go in this folder. Then make a folder in it named WinRE_Backup (the complete path would be C:\TBWinRE\WinRE_Backup). Finally, place the winre.wim file into the WinRE_Backup folder.

Im back to using IFW on this PC after having troubles with ax64. I moved AX64 to my other PC. Feels good to have it back. Confidence is essential to a a backup software. I like it how you can can add the recovery media to WinRE via F8 as opposed to the boot menu in AX64, which incurs a delay. :thumb:

    regards.

OK. I removed the /rd:16 and set the windows power options to never sleep. The GUI disappears after 10 minutes.
During those ten minutes, the only option displayed is cancel and that does nothing but produce a "are you sure" prompt which in turn does nothing.
The GUI displays "completed" so IFW is apparently just waiting for something to time out before it drops the GUI

Thanks for that, but I would still like to know why it waits 10 minutes after completion for the GUI to go away. Even if I hide the GUI, the program is probably still going to wait the 10 minutes before ending.
Its not a biggie, just that I'm curious.

OK After looking at the log, I noticed that it was hanging trying to send an email. I removed the email information in the settings and it seems to terminate at the end of the backup/validate rather than 10 minutes later.

    mantra,

Open IFW and click Settings. In the "Log file" field type a path similar to this...

    I:\Tera\W8_single\IFW.LOG

    (it must finish with IFW.LOG)

All future logs will be in your chosen folder.

At present, your IFW.LOG is in the same folder as imagew64.exe. Probably...

    C:\Program Files (x86)\TeraByte Unlimited\Image for Windows\V2

    mantra,

You like doing it the hard way. Using IFW in Windows is preferable (and can be automated) but if you want to create images from the boot disk then you need to do more work. Fill out the "Log file" field and create another TBWinPE UFD. Boot from the UFD and see if the drive letter for the partition you chose for the Log file is the same drive letter in TBWinPE. If not, then you know where to look for IFW.LOG when you get back into Windows. In the different partition.

Edit ... If you don't want to create another TBWinPE UFD you could fill in the TBWinPE IFW "Log file" field but this would need to be done at every boot.

I tried IFW and found it to be a little difficult to maneuver. I'm sure it's a good app, but for me it needs to be simple and unobtrusive with not so many options and settings - they only help me screw something up. Sticking with Macrium and Aoemi for now.

    John,

I suggest you try IFW in Simple Operations Mode. 3 clicks to backup and 3 clicks to restore. To use this mode open IFW and click Settings on the first screen. Put a tick in Simple Operations. Done.

    For the first backup

Backup this computer to an alternate drive
    Backup From...Select the Source drive
Backup To ....Select the Target drive and target partition on the drive
    That's it.

For the second and subsequent backups

Backup this computer to an alternate drive
    Backup From...Select the Source drive
    That's it.

    To restore a backup

Restore a backup to this computer
    Select Backup to Restore
    Accept the Warning
    That's it.

There are no switches or Options to select. It really is simple.

It does a full entire drive backup, then 6 incremental backups, then a full backup, then 6 incremental backups, etc. You can run it manually of scheduled or both. Manually, it's a 3 click backup and 3 click restore procedure.

Can you let me know if this is simple and unobtrusive?
