I do not like the new design at all. it's pretty bad.

the old design was great and didn't need changing.

I really dislike change for the sake of change...it rarely results in an improvement.

Yes I agree, the old design was awesome. Newer is definitely not always better. :)

No it doesn't. And I still need to allow javascript to use the search function there. I'm allergic to javascript these days.

Thanks for the suggestions. I actually just heard of FileHorse now.

At home, and sometimes I only visit Softpedia to check if a program is 100% Free of any kind of malware, but last Saturday, I search latest Winrar Version and I don't like its new web design

While NeoWin has been breaking great Windows10 stories of late - I'm having problems with the foistware they're posting on the software page.

Software that is installed without the user's knowledge or consent, often bundled with another product.

Softpedia makes it easier and easier to use others. FileHippo made a change with large Category Tiles a few months ago, and I disagree that those are more useful for one reason: the Utilities Concept can be all-encompassing. File Hippo's old design had a Category Title then examples listed of the software included, under that Category Title. Now, with nothing but a Category Tile, "What's this button contain? What's that? How many buttons must I select and waste time reviewing in order to find the RIGHT category?"

And the second question: "Why am I bothering to waste time?"

The so-called "quick and easy Category Tile" concept - while it's great for SmartPhone Downloads - is a time-waster for more folks than me, I suspect. "If I can't find it easily on a 3-inch screen, why bother?"

Softpedia's Change-For-Change's-Sake is just one more example of this.

I just wanna see LISTS. I don't need dancing-girl icons or cutesy Flash demos. I'm looking for certain keywords and that's what I want to see. Text. Not colorful backgrounds or sweeping golden-grain vistas.

I want these sites to make me MORE productive and be MORE useful, not a source of entertainment. They are completely wrong if they believe file clearinghouse sites should be a source of visual entertainment or Whack-A-Mole tile clicks.

Let me find what I want without wasting my time!

I feel your pain. I still sometimes use Softpedia but only to check out screen-shots. With Javascript enabled it's a nightmare (too heavy for an old machine), but without it, you can not download anything and can't see user comments. Plus you also can not see all the screen-shots anymore. The old version didn't have any of these problems, go figure. :thumbd:

Rash, I can certainly understand programmers sitting around, tossing pencils into the overhead, and their bosses screaming for them to "do something!! ANYthing!!" so they re-design front-ends.

They need to learn some serious web-calisthenics, though - such as "How to post new web-pages for their bosses' short-term memory usage" and "how to leave time-tested websites alone for everyone else." I think it's located in the courses like GROUNDHOG DAY and MEMENTO.

Of course, it's quite telling to see any 'comments' being shuttled to the 'require admin review before posting' programming! ha ha

Our satisfaction remains knowing that, eventually, all of those programmers, marketing idiots and peabrained 'leaders' will have THEIR favorite service-based websites changed on them, too.

LOL, yes exactly, and it's sad that when these "professionals" have to redesign stuff, the end result is so horribly bad. Why not do a minor redesign/upgrade, and don't try to fix something that wasn't broken in the first place? :argh:

Yes... there's such a vast difference between being a programmer and being a user! Programmers just don't realize this.

It looks and runs like junk, just like every other website using this "style" more and more. Chrome seems to hate websites like this, they do not load properly many times.

Speaking of change.. Lots of fuss about Admuncher, and going free, and v5 being very close. That was back in June.. Nothing since.

From the looks of the latest threads on that software, I would leave that land mine alone. Nothing I read here or elsewhere is positive and it seems everyone is just fine with declaring the whole shebang dead.

They put lot of ads in every page and redesigned everything for the touch interface. However the end product is a trash.

One of the main, and very illogical changes introduced imo, which I find an unnecessary inconvenience, is their way of displaying software releases from over 2 weeks ago right alongside today's releases. And the dates are now somewhat greyed-out, and a bit hard to read for me. I hardly spend much time at Softpedia nowadays. It's a mess.
