    Salutations.
Step 1: Download & install http://www.revouninstaller.com/ [trial] or http://www.iobit.com/advanceduninstaller.html [freeware]
Step 2: When uninstalling remove all files and registry keys it finds
    Step 3: Restart
Step 4: Download installer again from the main site
Step 5: disable any/all security software if any
Step 6: Install Qihoo product of choice, I assume it is TS
Step 7: After installation, restart the computer
    Step 8: Post back results

If it is the same result, then in Start menu enter services [just write services and select Services running on this computer]
Then find 360 Total Security, make sure it is Started and startup type on Automatic.
If not, go to properties, on it, on startup select Automatic [not delayed automatic], then Apply, then Start button in the dialog box, wait for it, then press OK, close services dialog, right click on Qihoo tray, exit, then start again from windows desktop shortcut. If it does not solve a problem, write back again and we shall try even more solutions.

    Uninstalled everything with IObit uninstaller.
Re-installed 360 TS, same result. QHActiveDefense.exe is not running.

Opening "services", 360 Total Security is Started and startup type is on Automatic.
but QHActiveDefense.exe is not running, again.

By the way, I cannot change 360 Total Security service options. Even though my user account is Administrator.

Interesting anomaly. Please verify that QHActiveDefense.exe exists in installation folder. If it does, run it. If not, report back. Did you install TS in administrator user account?

QHActiveDefense.exe exists inside a subfolder of the installation folder.
I installed TS in a user account with Administrator privileges.

If I run it, it exits almost immediately.
Runnining it using a Command Prompt I was able to read the previous error I posted:
    -----------------------
    Parameters:
    - install to install the service.
    - remove to remove the service.
Service failed to run w/err 0x00000427

    -----------------------

I would say the installation procedure is/was unable to install this service correctly.

Using the same computer, and the same account, 360 IS works (but I would like to use TS, because I prefer Avira over BitDefender)

    and thanks a lot GakunGak!

I've been looking at this error code and it looks nasty. I will keep trying in the meantime and offer fix if possible.
In the meantime, I suggest this:
Copy/paste everything you told me here with all the steps you took, screenshot command prompt error and send it to Qihoo at support@360safe.com
After a message or two, let them build a special installation package for you which should create a log for you to send them for analysis.
That should enable them to diagnose the problem and ship bugfix version.
If you want them to diagnose this faster, offer a TeamViewer session so they could see the anomaly.
Speaking from experience, they will only take TeamViewer if you are present at your computer, they will not connect to an unattended one.....

After the last update 5.0.0.2018, I noticed that 360TS is taking over 300MB of my RAM, while it used around 150-160MB before ( with all engines active). Also it's constantly using 20-30% of my CPU. Has anyone experienced similar problems? Right now I can't even play games or do my course work on AutoCAD, because 360TS is taking so much resources.

ive been using 360 ts for about 2 weeks (or maybe 4) now. got just 2 complains
1: bitdefender definitions are lagging behind. massively. sometimes after checking for updates BD defs are updated, sometimes not, at present its about 3 days behind. avira defs updated no probs.
2: if i go offline for a while and then go online, updating definitions never work, totally stuck until reboot

Wow 510MB, that is just ridiculous. I remember a few weeks ago it used 150MB on security mode, any idea why the RAM usage spiked like that ? On the bright side 360TS is no longer taking 30% of my CPU, it went down to 0-4%.

510 MB !?! Wow, that's really a lot. It's true that modern systems have a lot of ram, but 510 is a huge quantity anyway.

Are you sure that Avira defs are really updated? Because when I tried this software, the signatures always lagged behind of a few days (three days at least, sometimes a week), despite the interface reported they were updated.

Guys, what I meant was it spikes from time to time, not that it is constant 500mb. Relax people or you're gonna have a heart attack.... :)

This was the very reason I uninstalled 360 TS about a month ago - the signature lag of the Avira and Bitdefender definitions. They where more than 24 hours older than the "latest signatures" listed in the Avira and Bitdefender databases. I did post earlier in his thread about this problem (page 22 on 8th Aug). I have been using Free Avast since with comodo firewall. I keep checking this thread everyday to see if this issue has be addressed. I did like 360TS and would happily go back to it.

Well, exactly like me. I'm with Avast right now, but if this issue about update will be solved I'm ready to try again 360TS.

Since 360 is in effect, a cloud av, do the local sigs being a day or two behind make that much difference?

You care too much about signatures.
They have pretty good heuristics and HIPS so you should be covered.

Then it makes this particular feature pointless. And it looks as if they are only there for show and grab attention. It would be better if Qihoo dropped Avira and Bitdefender and put its faith in its own A/V definitions. It would show confidence in it.

I m trying the latest version with just 3 motors installed....I ve found Qihoo cloud engines strong enough....
I know it has USB Protection feature... I wanna know if it is effective enough to protect me from infected USB drives while I m offline( or I shoud add some USB Avs such as MCShield or USB Disk Security)?

    Thanks in advance

It is supposed to sandbox anything going from USB flash drive, while the cloud connection is down, then upload/analyse/quarantine anything it finds suspicious once the cloud is back online. At least, it can disable autorun execution.
I cannot test it as my flash drive died [RIP!, served me well], but if you want added protection "just in case", you can go with USB Disk Security. As for the MCShield, cannot tell, didn't use it.

    Thanks for your quick response....

"UDS" and MCShield usually block any autorun files from the USBs....
As for the UDS,once I made a file on a USB,with "exe" extension and I made it hidden.... I reattached the PEN drive and UDS found it as a threat.

Does 360TS have this kind of feature?

I as well have had problems with the signature lag every time I installed 360TS.

Now their own engine plus their heuristic engine is very strong indeed, but the bitdefender engine at least just puts that....finishing touch on the detection capabilities.

And as always theirs users like me where HIPS isnt really a viable option because of family constraints so for me the product really has to pack quite a punch with its sigs.

With no internet connectivity, it should be sandboxed.
With internet connectivity, if it is a threat or behaviour resembles that one of threat, qihoo will quarantine it.

My experience, while at work and people bring in usb flash drives, and me having qihoo with all engines running, and connected to cloud, it automatically finds and quarantines a threat. It intercepts before autorun execution, blocks it and deleted it. It keeps a copy in a quarantine in case of false positive.

Trojan variants were the most common.

Still, I will talk to Qihoo next week about better USB protection in offline mode, just in case. Thanks for bringing that up!
