Yes I had to revert to 4.3.12. I got error described by cremor. I don't use RT AV so in my case it's not antivirus conflict.

And now someone explains why Ubuntu has been slow lately. The fix is in VBox 4.3.14 or 4.3.13 GA that was taken down. Just wonderful, maybe I'll just extract the new guest additions and try them out.

My first post was deleted because someone just had to selectively quote and start going off-topic, and I took the bait. Don't know why it couldn't have been kept without the offending reply, or just edited.

Basically it replicated an error, listed possible conflicts (will try posting that again later), and questioned why this was mandatory without an extensive whitelist (someone had an issue with that).

Anyone know if Drag and Drop support has been fixed for copying files between a windows host and a windows guest in 4.3.14?

The user manual from my 4.3.12 install states that this feature is currently only implemented for Linux guests and only for copying files from the host to the guest. It seems to be taking forever for Oracle to implement this for windows.

Thanks ... sounds like a cop-out to me. VMware doesn't seem to consider drag and drop between host and guest to be such a big security risk since it has been implemented via VMware Tools for quite some time now and I have not heard of any exploits targeting this function. I guess one should not complain since it's free.

I've never really been a fan of "don't complain since it's free". It just gives developers an excuse for everything.
And yes, it is a cop-out but it's kind of habit of theirs to try and weasel out of doing things they don't want to do or are too lazy to do, or don't know how to do. This combined with the endless bugs makes me consider start saving for VMWare Workstation, even though I might never have enough, unless I go the "pirate route". I really don't want to switch because I generally like VirtualBox, I don't have money for VMWare Workstation and I want to use only legal software but Orcale/the VirtualBox dev team are making it harder and harder to use their products.

4.3.16 is released, and I officially give up. More details and a quote since my post will likely be moderated: https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=63556

The nerve of these people, censoring the comment above mine as well which was simply describing in detail exactly what I was experiencing. I was wondering when Oracle would ruin VirtualBox as well.

I was little disappointed with release 4.3.14 and how they handled the troubles users have had. I was hoping .16 would solve most of the problems. I guess I will wait for next release and update only when most problems will be gone.

They say it does, but ultimately you should try it yourself. Personally, I won't bother upgrading or migrating until it becomes necessary.

Yet another example of why not to be in a rush to upgrade/migrate unless it's necessary. I'm still running v4.2.10, and see no compelling reason to change.

All I can say is that I haven't had any problems with 4.3.14 and 4.3.16 now running on Arch Linux as host. Oops - I forgot, I had a problem with 4.3.16: My VMs wouldn't start, they all crashed during boot-up. The simple reason: I had forgotten to update the Extension Pack. After an update all is well.

"Drag and drop from guest to host: implies that the guest has the above ability, plus the ability to write and modify files anywhere on the host"
eeeer no ? I thought for sure that drag and drop from guest to host requires some interaction from the host in vmware, if not then why isn't every malware out there exploiting this ? And it's not like I'm gonna paste content from guest in system32 or startup folder :argh:
I think you have pinpointed the issue.
Once you go vmware you never go back ;)

Finally, VirtualBox 4.3.18 is working properly. Seriously, I see nothing wrong with it for once.
