How can i import a config file to another os?

I copied my vista ini file onto the one in win7 but the settings are the original win7 install.

Does the config file not have all the settings?

Do i really need to move the whole application rather than just the config file?
    Anybody done it?

probably just the config file since XYplorer can be downloaded as a portable program.
if my memory serves me good, you can also export the settings.

it's been awhile since I've used it because I am a DOpus user.

i did try to copy just the config file but it seemed to ignore it when relaunching the program again. :(

There is no export menu that i can find but it is in plain text

I downloaded it yesterday and copied the program folder to another computer and it ran without installation. Then I did a really interesting experiment. I have a WinPe bootable external disk for backup and restoration purposes. I upgraded some of the software on it today and copied XYplorer onto the WinPe partition. Windows explorer doesn't work in WinPe and I have been running it from a command prompt. BS Explorer is the usual substitute for Windows Explorer in WinPe. XYplorer just required one .dll file to be copied to the WinPe partition to work. I also had to edit the startup.ini file to point it to the right location. That was it and now I have it working in WinPe.

File->Settings Special, all you need is in there.
