Great! Modular TS would be an excellent solution which would mean a painless move to TS (for IS users).

    OK I've got a reply.

Here's their say on the matter:

    Dear,
Thank you for your support to 360safe.

    To this email,

We quite apperaciate your great suggestion to us. And some of the points are still in our internal discussion.

Of course we will still keep improving our products, and we will make improvement on the interface and so.

So again, thank you and please feel free to contact us anytime you have any question or suggestion about our product.

    What I originally wrote:

    Dear Qihoo,
As you probably know, many are concerned about IS going to be shut down in the 3-6 months period.
Even though there is no official confirmation, and not knowing the outcome of internal discussion, I
    suggest the following:
You may go ahead and scrap IS in favor of TS, with having this in mind:
Have Total Security modular. During install procedure, have user choose what to install, antivirus is mandatory, the rest should be optional:
    - Facebook [some people hate that]
    - Cleanup & optimize
    - network protection
    - windows/other patch
    - sandbox
    - future features
That above should be customizable during install.
But also if already installed with all of the above, have user have active/inactive check to choose which module should be active.
Make that option for advanced users, simple should have all installed as recommended.
With that in mind, I would say that you can safely retire IS.....
Please let me know any response on this so that I can inform people @ WildersSecurity
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thre...defender-included.348585/page-86#post-2397665

So, I think we have some chance for this.... Let's see what happens, I trust they will make the best call there is...

Well I recently got a new computer complete with Windows 8.1 so found TS when going to download IS. Whilst I am loving the inclusion of the Avira engine I fear this is becoming bloatware. They should concentrate on getting what they have sorted before trying to add new features and as has been said they should let us disable some of the modules. I don't want some third party in control of my windows updates nor do I want my antivirus program to do anything other than detect viruses and other nasty activity. If nothing else why is TS missing a some of the features from IS such as being able to schedule scans and being able to specify what engine is used for what type of scanning?

    Those are all valid points.
Modules separation and enable/disable switch is under consideration.
We will see if it will make just in time for next major release.
As for schedule, that is a good idea right there, will send it to them. Do not expect reply before monday/tuesday, as it is weekend already.
As for customizing engines, in custom protection you can choose which engines to be active, and what protection.
As for realtime/on demand scan, I will ask them about it.
If you don't hear from me by Wednesday, give me a reality wake up call and I will get back to you as soon as I get some info.

Like I said IS had scheduling and i had it set to do a full scan every Sunday morning at 0200 so seems strange they left it out since it is a basic feature of most antivirus programs.

I really hope 360 does not completely kill off/completely stop development of IS.

I'm using IS right now in favor over TS because for some reason TS on my laptop will not upload files to their cloud or update BD sigs past the 20th completely crippling detection capabilities.

1: Please state amount of available RAM you have
    2: Please state CPU architecture/speed
3: Please state Windows version / architecture
4: Please state Internet connection speed
5: Please state why do you think Qihoo cloud detection is so much inferior to Bitdefender/Avira signatures and will not protect you if you normally use your PC and not looking for hack tools.
6: Please state did you inform Qihoo about this problem and worked with them in resolving this problem?

Jay has extremely busy work schedule as he deals with matters via other means of communication, such as email. When he can, he will look into posts requiring support, as we are not the only ones he gets in contact with. Even my mails take time, but I know his busy schedule.
When he can, he will reply. A long time ago I posted this could take time, and the guy is shy a bit :) but once he opens up, you will see how wonderful he as a person truly is.
Now, when he reads this, he would expect a problem to try to solve from his end.
I am going to work soon so don't have time to swift through all pages, will you provide details of your issues with 360IS?

P.S. Also don't expect reply on weekend SAT-SUN, that's when he does not reply as he is not at his workplace, I will try to cover for him.

    Hi GakunGak,

Thank you for your effort (and enthusiasm!)

Despite of your good intension , the truth is that Qihoo 360 sucks badly on communication!
For a company which claims 460 million users , to have ONE guy who is "not at his workplace" SAT-SUN is hilarious!

All together there are fix TWO answer from your guy so far, on "wilderssecurity" and NONE on Facebook.

I would say, let it die.

And Avast has a very busy forum and support yet they have let trojans through in my tests and have, at least twice, released untested definitions that have resulted in important system files being classed as malware.

Not a very professional reply.OK so here we go:

No AV is 100%.I have got quite a few trojan ransomwares through 360 TS whereas avast cloud detected them.Secondly, you talk about untrusted definations? That issue has happened years ago...I am sure every AV company even Kaspersky has suffered from something like this in past... How about talking about your own proactive defense in 360 TS which has some flaws and lets through some malware in my test and by the way why not talk about fixing the outdated definations issue of bitdefender and avira in your product. And how unreliable the product is when we are offline unlike avast which is not a "cloud" av like 360.To add, avast filerep and evo-gen are improving all the time,it hardly takes like 1 hour or less for filerep to pickup alot of those newly reported threats. So yeah, they are moving up and plus what 2015 version is going to bring, will make a BIG difference.

I have lot of clients running avast and they dont complain of getting infected.Hardly,1 case has even occured in past 3 months.Real world usage is all that matters. And when did you test avast? They had a bit downfall over past few months and now they are back to stable.Testing procedures? Something to describe. What trojans? Name? How do you know the sample set was well balanced? What proof you got you did not deliberately mess with the test bed?

I am sure every AV company can do such type of "tests" and throw mud at the other AV's.But this is antivirus not world war.

Speaking about avast! forums, they have helped so many people with their infected computers over the years and that has made some people in the community happy because we are taking the responsibility! Unlike 360 which has no forums just some random facebook page with no real revelation about the questions asked.

Throwing mud at other AV companies to defend your flaws without checking the facts.Oh also it doesnt increase the company's respect either.Well,if this was a 360 reply then I doubt anyone else or even just me will ever me using this program in the future.

Yes quite an ASSumption there. Also assuming I am a professional. Not sure where that idea came from neither. Also, a quick look at his posts shows he is quite active in Qihoo threads and yet now he is slating them?

I am forever downloading viruses I get sent links for in malicious emails or dodgy websites. I then upload then to VirusTotal to see how well detected they are and then report them to those that do not yet detect them using Xray. In my experience Qihoo's IS has detected more than most other free AVs and I have to turn off TS when I am downloading these samples now as it has detected them all so far be it by their cloud or one of the other two engines.

For some unknown reason this thread managed to slip under my radar [no email notification nor bold text in forum subject indicating there is post activity].
I see there is a general disappointment in this thread. And that is understandable, due to lack of proper support.
Before anything else, let me be perfectly clear:
1: Qihoo 360 has not abandoned Internet Security at this time, UNTIL it becomes OFFICIAL on their website 6 months in advance of "end-of-life". So no, I am not letting this "die".
2: I do not work for Qihoo 360, although I imagine it would sound pretty cool to have it on a resume, being "The Google of China".
    3: Qihoo 360 serves over 550 million users, not 460. http://www.360safe.com/news/?p=888
    - August 5th, 2014
4: Jay is a little bit shy and it is his "first steps" around here. I posted way back his integration here will take some time, once he gets a hang of it, he will hang out more out here. But he is not paid to post here, nor it is in his job description, it is purely voluntary.
5: But I agree Qihoo could use an improvement in communication [web site/forum]
6: I am extremely busy in real life [doing 2 jobs] so I post in TS/IS threads when I can. I appreciate patience in awaiting my reply.
7: I am sure by now you guys realize that by being active and caring you actually help developement of Qihoo products by pointing out bugs, possible fixes, solutions, and suggestions.

And for the end, again, I am not abandoning you. I just need to crash sleep for 5 hours :)
I will bring this thread to Jay's attention so that he says hi here when he is available.

Testing direct binaries against virustotal is useless and is flawed way to test.It just only measures the ability of what the AV engine can do and not the whole program.A antivirus product has more than just signatures to offer these days.Eg: Web Blocker,Cloud backend, heuristics, sandbox, behavior detection.

And in my experience,avira/comodo/avast have so much to offer apart from signatures.

This is not an excuse, that's an explanation what your really should read from the static tests. Yep, it's nice to be on the first places, but the world does not end if you're not there.
Regarding the above pro-active VT test, this is the most flawed test of them all. It does _NOT_ test the ability of the product to protect you from the unknown malware. It tests the ability of the signature engines to detect the samples got in the test's timeframe.

The usual points about static testing are:
    a) the tests are carried long after the real infection took place, so it's kind of useless from today's point of view
    b) the tests are carried without any context state information. Such information - if there is file named "document.doc .exe" in email, this is enough to ban the execution
    c) the tests are carried only with the signature engines - they don't test the other generic protection engines the products may have
    d) the tests don't know anything about the relationship of the samples. If you detect the dropper, you don't have to detect the dropped binary.

It's very hard to evaluate the real-world performance of an AV solution when we don't (and I suspect we can't) test the whole chain and prove if the user is protected. The tests on VT and such don't prove anything, but the ability of the engine to detect it by the signature.

Another week and still not a word from "Jay" who "is a little bit shy" aka Qihoo 360....
Also ,these are from their Facebook forum:

"When answering a question posed? 1-2-3 week, or never?"
"This forum seems dead. Ha ha No reply from administrator"
    "ANYTHING? Dead silence? "

Strange that there is an update if they are planning to stop 360 IS ? but again its one of these silent updates... or will they keep it alive ...
If i knew for sure i might use it again (but last 3 months tested many other AV)

(at malware tips 360 IS still has a better detection rate compared with 360 TS)
