whats a good program to search the registry

as the title i need a program a little more powerful than the builtin windows regedit. i want that something that can search and replace either singly or in a batch and most importantly can create backups and is safe and reliable to use. i am aware that most ppl here think reg utils are unsafe

G, this really belongs under Other Software and Services, but to address your question I find Registry Workshop a far superior alternative to regedit. but it's not free. Unlike registry cleaners, RW does not search, find and clean reg-entries which it deems useless or unnecessary. It searches the registry and find what you are looking for much faster than regedit and in 'one fell swoop'. Then you decide upon any actions (if any) to take.

In my opinion and experience, Registrar Registry Manager is one of the best if not the best windows Registry manager. It includes a customization search and a ton of other features. It has a free version (which is what I use) and a Pro version.

Seconded ..used this for years.

 

+1 for Registry Workshop, but if you want free then Registrar Registry Manager Lite is good too.

 

Another vote for Registry Workshop. It is the best.
