I am currently trialling NVT ERP alongside my default AppGuard and Sandboxie setup.

You won't be sorry with Appguard & NVT ERP. Great combo!

I will buy a new machine soon, and I´m still trying to figure out my setup for Win 8. :)

When it comes to firewall/HIPS, I might go for Outpost or Comodo. Perhaps I will also give SpyShelter another try.

    My plan so far:

    Anti-exe: EXE Radar Pro
    Anti-exploit: Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit or HitmanPro.Alert
    Firewall: ?
    Sandbox: Sandboxie
    HIPS: ?
    Scanner: VirusTotal Uploader

There is also: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thre...d-2-0-next-tool-for-blocking-exploits.365958/ And EMET 5.0, after HitmanPro.Alert comes out i also add it to the mix :)
You could just use like Tinywall with windows firewall and Spyshelter Premium the Hips one and not the Firewall version. With Sandboxie and Exe Radar Pro + Virustotal uploader or: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/blitzvt-opinions.366705/ which sounds interesting, il probably replace VT uploader with this tool, it sounds so goody! :)

Aaaaargh I can't stand it anymore! :D By the name of Deutchland Sicherheit that thing is so heavy. Probably the heaviest AV I've ever tried. It still can't overthrow Avira yet for me.

Now while I'm at it, currently trying out la España seguridad. And thus far, I must say that I'm liking it. Although I've already got my first FP and ad popup. :argh: Again, I'll keep this for a while before going back to my no-AV setup. (but perhaps a bit longer than with G Data. :D)

Yes I know, but I don´t think that ViRobot APT Shield is as good as HMP.A or MBAE. And perhaps I will indeed go for a simple firewall. It really bugs me that the GUI/ease of use of apps like SpyShelter and ZoneAlarm is so bad. ZA used to be my favorite firewall. And to be honest, I´m not really into Comodo at all, it annoyed me a bit the last time I tried it.

Still with the super silent triumvirate, Emsisoft Internet Security, MBAE, Appguard. No ads, no popups, no advertising, no useless add-ons, no bloatware. Silent but deadly.

Added EMET 5.0 to Emsisoft AM lic + OA free. It's the same light.

I share the same view. That's why for people that don't have MBAE or HMPA license could get atleast somewhat good Anti-Exploit protection for free with Emet 5.0 and ViRobot APT Shield. I'l plan to test bit how HMPA 3.0, ViRobot APT Shield and Emet 5.0 work together :D
I've grown to somewhat like Spyshelter firewall but i do agree with you that their UI isn't exactly intuitive. I used Zonealarm as well for many years i like it too just haven't used it much these days. Comodo managed to wreck my 2 windows'es last time i tried :p

    @ Yanick,

We seem to think alike, nice. And even though Comodo was horrible, SpyShelter annoyed me even more, for various reasons. Also, if they could fix the GUI, I would probably use ZA Free again. :)

Yep, seems we do :D Was there any version of Comodo that functioned as it should have for you? SpyShelter isn't too user friendly either with the alert window's, hope they improve them someday :) Have you ever pinged ZoneAlarm support with your suggestions?
Hmm.. maybe i should try the new version of ZoneAlarm and see what kind of UI they have :thumb:

    - Mitigate rich content in MS-aps (trust-center/IE-zone), in others with MBAE-free

    On-demand
    - HitmanPro in EWS-mode to check new arrivals at VT
    - ProcessExplorer with VT-check on exe's and dll's
    - FreeFileSync for monthly backup to NAS

  15. Isn't HMPA free? I don't follow that one... but I thought it was free.

Been a long time Agnitum Outpost user. Technically Zemana antilogger isn't compatible with it but given the right setup it works alongside it flawlessly. I keep hearing good things about spyshelter and while I'm interested in replacing Zemana AntiKeylogger (especially given my recent discoveries of it's NOT encrypting keystrokes on any non W8.1 x64 OS despite the charts on the site) ~with spyshelter I am NOT interested in replacing BOTH zemana and outpost! Yet outpost has proven to be pretty much incompatible with spyshelter, even the non firewall version (premium) which has prevented me from making the shift as I have no desire to replace Outpost.

As soon as sandboxie releases a version (which according to the latest beta thread is expected soon) that works with Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit I plan to pick it up as well. (MBAE that is)

For now I pretty much only rely on ESET NOD's AV Exploit Blocker in that regard and with 0 alerts over many months it's pretty much a leap of faith that it's doing anything at all. (another program that isn't technically compatible with Outpost.)

I'd veto the comodo choice if it were up to me but the other choices are strong and I don't think you could easily go wrong between them with the right rules.

Spyshelter is a strong contender in my book and if outpost ever fails me I may rethink my current stance.

Its anti-exploit and active vaccination features are paid. MBAE has a free version as well, but with only shields for your browser and Java. Plus it's incompatible with the others in the first place.

I don't think it's a leap of faith. You just don't encounter exploits, that's all. The last time I've encountered an exploit on my computer was more than ten years ago.

    @jmonge

It's good to see you again ;)

I only tried one of the oldest and the newest version of Comodo, and both kinda sucked, with all kinds of stupid alerts, even about Windows system processes (that should have been trusted), it´s just too dumb and aggressive. And SpyShelter has got a very unhandy log window, and rules management is horrible.

The only thing I dislike about ZA is "Application Control", they screwed it up, it´s now a separate (and not resizable) dialog window, see first link. Perhaps I will sign up again, but years ago they blocked me from the ZA forum (IP block), for no good reason. :thumbd:

Thanks for the feedback. If I had to choose between SpyShelter and Zemana I´d go for the first one, on the other hand Zemana has got a dedicated "Anti Banking Trojan" (SSL logger) module, I´m not sure if SS has got the same. :)
