I thought that SD virtualized the pagefile, and that nothing could persist in the pagefile after reboot. ??

What do you mean by "nobbled version"? Have they altered the software in any way?

That's interesting. So you start Deep Freeze and then enable SD? Have you encountered any problems doing this?

What I mean is it's not like a retail version in that it has to be installed before a particular time for the setup file to function and you do not get updates.

Can I safely uncheck "start with windows" in the GUI & msconfig-startup-Shadow Defender entry if I want to run Shadow Defender ondemand only?

Yes you can, it's not vital. Defenderdaemon.exe in startup is for user-alerts (e.g., when shadowed volume is low in space). ;)

So if I uncheck the startup entry, what happens when shadowed volume is low in space?

Yes, you can. Thats exactly what I do to run Shadow defender on demand.
    Nothing.:)

How to know the amount of RAM used for shadow defender if I enable RAM cache?

I believe it's the "Used" figure listed under "Write cache information" on the main System Status screen.

If you are using the setup from the giveaway, I believe that you have to install it within a certain timeframe or it won't install.

Yes that was what i did unless there is a time limit of when you downloaded till you install.

I downloaded on the first day prepped my system to install today and then it complains. :(

Just to help you and Patrick to avoid misunderstandings in your conversation:
I have the impression that you do not refer to the "normal" download from the official homepage of "Shadow Defender" but to the recent offer with the 100% discount by windowsdeal.com. I conclude this from your postings in the other thread: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/shadow-defender-100-discount.366474/#post-2395804 (and following postings)

    Greeting!;)

Does AppGuard have any kind of conflicts with Shadow Defender?
The reason is that, I am thinking about purchase a Lic.,key for AppGuard.
By the way Shadow Defender is working like a champ?

    Your thoughts?

In the past I've used Appguard v3 along with ShadowDefender 1.1.0.325 on Xp 32-bit without issues, felt it was a good combo.

I too downloaded & installed the 100% discount copy of Shadow Defender that was available on windowsdeal.
This is a lifetime version, right?
    Will this update/upgrade too?

No conflicts here. Shadow Defender and AppGuard are all I use in real-time. For me, they're a perfect combination.

    So it will not update.

Guess, back to Toolwiz Time Freeze, that worked perfectly here. The only thing is TTF only protects system drive.
