What does that have to do with erasing browsing data?

If your browsing data is erased then the new tab/speed dial page or whatever you call it is useless isn't it?

Assuming we are talking about Click&Clean here.
Glad I read your post, as I had always authorized installation of the app. I just didn't differentiate between app and extension.
This time I denied the app.
As for disabling the plugin... where does one do that?
    TY!

    chrome://plugins/
It installs 2 plugins both of which I disable. The "Bitdefender quick scan" and "mixesoft click&clean".
    The bloat is awful.

I actually checked that before asking, and either I missed it or it wasn't there... probably because I had C&C disabled, so it doesn't show on the plugins page.
And I always assumed the Bitdefender quick scan plugin was related to Tafficlight, but I guess not.
    TY for the help. :thumb:

On Windows or Linux? On Linux it doesn't install any plugins... +1 for that.
My guess is that it uses the Bitdefender plugin to perform its completely useless feature known as the "scan for malware" function.
Yeah because we install browser extensions to be AV software right? /s

Click the triple lines icon in the upper-right corner of the toolbar.
    Select Tools option
    Select Clear browsing data

May not be automatic but it's still fast.
What is your disagreement with this?

It doesn't clear history on the new tab page.

Hi everyone! My name is Serge and I am one of the developers of Click&Clean.

After cleaning, websites that appears on the Chrome "most visited pages" tab,
it's just thumbnails of your bookmarks. Take a look at screenshots below.

    http://www.hotcleaner.com/other/most-visited-page.png

As for permissions, Chrome alerts you that the extension may access to all your data, because we use the NPAPI plugin (Chrome doesn't have an extended API for extensions, like Firefox)
to provide a helpful features (available only for Windows users) like access to the Windows tools: security center, devices, services etc. and Cache viewer (screenshot below).

npccch32.dll - our plugin and npqscan.dll - QuickScan plugin provided to us by BitDefender Labs.

All our websites, apps, add-ons, is 100% spyware-free! No viruses, no spyware, no badware, no hijacks! Our Apps/add-ons doesn't collect and/or share personal information with a third parties!
You can view our Privacy Policy by clicking on the link at the bottom of our website.

Further, all extensions that uses NPAPI plugin thoroughly tested by Chrome Web Store team.

That's great and all but how about you provide a "Light" version that does the job it's meant to without the additional bloat?

The minute someone creates such an extension, I'll be dropping C&C like a rock.

Sorry for the off-topic, but can you add the option to use flash instead of html5 in Magic Actions? Thanks

I'm not interested in Chrome apps, I do not have the C&C Chrome app installed and I disabled the pointless plugins the extension installs.

Are you saying the next update will strip out all the bloat into a separate extension? That would be great.

I meant History Eraser extension, not the app.

    Yeah something like this.

Just delete files in your user data/default folder:

    top sites
    top sites-journal

that's where the NTP results are kept

It seems the click&clean extension is now gone from the chrome store, the only thing available is the click&clean app which I don't want.

Is the "History Eraser" extension meant to be the replacement?

EDIT: It seems like the option to clean the cache when closing Chrome is gone... Why?? Probably the single most useful feature. If this is somehow difficult to do due to API, why not have it clear when Chrome is launched?

i just created a bookmark with the URL: chrome://settings/clearBrowserData

then dragged into the Bookmark Bar.
it makes it more visible and more accessible, so i'm more inclined to use it. ;)

The History Eraser App Overview says, in part: "However, if you want a more advanced and professional Cleaner, then you can use our Click&Clean software: http://www.hotcleaner.com"...
which takes you to Click&Clean - Extension for Chrome, where it states:

That's great but what I need is a set it and forget it script that runs that on exit or on launch, doesn't matter which.

It takes you to the click&clean app, not the extension. The latter is no longer available in the store.

    That's too bad.

I mean, the History Eraser App Overview says, in part: "However, if you want a more advanced and professional Cleaner, then you can use our Click&Clean software: http://www.hotcleaner.com"...
which then leads you to Click&Clean - Extension for Chrome. And that is BS? When I clicked on it, it told me I was up to date with the version of C&C I have.

It's a drag when the overview info itself indicates that it is directing us to one thing, that turns out to be something else.
