Every day the spyblaster keeps updating the definitions but according to spyblaster database my definitions date is 7/17/04 but on your web page it says 8/16/04. Also when I download you can download one minute then stop & download again & you do that unlimited number of times. You would think if you downloaded the latest database that you would have to download it again the next minute.

    Hi alfabob,

I have moved your post to the SpywareBlaster forum (thank you Blackspear.) :)

I am not sure I understand what you mean when you say "every day the spyblaster keeps updating the definitions...". (I am going to assume you are referring to SpywareBlaster.) Do you have automatic updates enabled, or are you manually checking for updates?

If you have automatic updates enabled, then yes it will check daily for updates.

If you are checking for updates manually, then you should only have to click the "Check for Updates" button once, let the updated database download, then check the "Enable All Protection" button, and close SpywareBlaster. Checking once a week for updates is usually recommended, and at the time of this post, the SpywareBlaster database was last updated Aug 16/04, and there are 3115 items in the database.

It sounds like you may not be making the connection to get the update? Are you allowing SpywareBlaster access through your firewall correctly?

alfabob, you can also try using another connection option.

Open SpywareBlaster, click on Updates --> Options --> and put a check in the box beside "Use Alternative Download Method". See if that works.

If it still will not update, then you can manually download the current database files from this thread: SpywareBlaster Troubleshooting

Let us know how it goes.

    hi snap & alfabob,
i had the same problem before with my spywareblaster update after we set up the firewall... while others recommended me to review my firewall set-up, i did otherwise because it was working fine already....what i did was just download manually all the updates..... it saved me time and effort reconfiguring the firewall... :D

    hi blackspear,
unfortunately not..... i took me quite some time trying to figure out a practical solution before i gave up.... i didnt want to mess us with firewall set-up because it was working fine already.... i posted my problem here before and they told me that i need to change my firewall set-up.... i have another set-up at home without a firewall and the update feature works fine.... my other computer attached to a LAN and a firewall is updated manually.... no regrets though, i get the updated definitions just fine..... :D
