OpenDNS block ads? I thought they were serving them instead?

These will block ads in all wifi connected devices. No ads in aps or games on your pc, tablet or phone.

Till 06-06-2014 it was serving them.

 

I just want to clarify that the ads was only shown on the "OpenDNS Guide" page wich was shown instead of an error message when a site you tried to access didn't load properly. They didn't push ads on you when you visited websites. So I did probably see the ads when I was redirected that page a total of 5 times or so through the years. So it was a non issue really.

 

@SweX - yes you only got to see ads if you wanted to visit a site that their DNS server couldn't resolve.

AFAIK the only ads that the free users "did" see (not anymore) was only shown on the guide page as mentioned in the posts above yours. FWIW I have used OpenDNS for 5+ years and have never seen any ads anywhere else except on the guide page.

 

Well, I was just citing my source about the free service. It told me that the free users get ads when browsing the web. That's what kept me from trying their... Right, I'll slap my source with a phone book for giving me a false information. >=V

Anyway, I am currently using OpenDNS and I can confirm that it does not block ads at all. So I don't understand why was it even mentioned in this thread.
