    Uninstalled after 1 month:
    1) Not login each time 100%:have to reboot the PC to solve this and be unprotected;this is generally solved by rebooting.
    2) Sluggish, cut internet connection especially with chrome especially with Flash video content, the chrome issue has been reported in the first pages of the thread and it is not solved. Seems the URL filter is too strong and powerful and breaks the internet enjoyment.

I just installed the latest free version #1.0.21.099

Scanned a file or two manually - all seems OK. Have not attempted a full scan. Will post back on that later...

EDIT: Has no file selection except the right click option so a full scan will include all hard drives. Since I have 3 HD's and only wanted to scan "C" - one has to use Explorer and right click the drive, or whatever folder chosen to scan.

Panda Free does let one scan each drive and folders separately...but Panda's nag screen to update drove me to try another program. I tried the '360' - but it slows down booting too much with the updating - but it had no nags.

So far, I kind of like this Bitdefender - but the way too simple interface is hard to comprehend at first. Scanning seems good and uses little resources. So, so far so good. :)

Just for my info - how do you tell the time of posts? I see nothing like the old layout that had dates and times.

As I said Bitdefender almost impedes any internet web surfing. Just removing it fixed the problem. SAME FOR MY ANDROID...!!! Also, it is a ressource hog, memory... It's very sad because the detections are among the highest but the http scanning is too powerful and unusable

Don't know if you tried the latest version - 1.0.21.099 - it seems to be OK with the issues you posted. Also it stops the installation and 'sees' the 64bit Window 7 I'm running and installs for 64bit. I've noticed no slowdown and did a scan of 'C Drive Disk' last night (manually), and it found one suspicious file and 15 spyware cookies and quarantined them. The ignore file button is not clear, but there are 3 buttons and what they do is visible with a hover.

Although much has been said in this thread about Bitdefender Free Anti-virus not being developed any more, we are pleased to see that the Bitdefender web site is still promoting this product as Bitdefender Free 2014. Those who have complained will be pleased to see that the Logs now work. The only slight lack of clarity is that the version number remains the same even though changes have been made. We think that this simple, light and very effective anti-virus is in fact one of the best and running happily along with Malwarebytes Pro we feel well protected.

That was a weird post indeed..unless you think about employees posting "reviews" about their own product, it's pretty common. It sounds like that kind of a post to me..that or Gollum just made his first ever forum post. If so, well, welcome to Wilders little dude! You still can't have Precious. On a more serious note, sure, the logs might be fixed. But like every version before it, they'll break again in a month. Just face it,the product is an afterthought for BitDefender at best.

The price is better for other solutions less buggy and intrusive. Don't be fooled over "free":it has a price.

Giving it up! Had too little settings for me. I have one or more webpages that I go to that are *not* dangerous, but it will block them and there is no way to exclude. Screw it and it's 'simplicity'. Just tried to install Avira - the install sucks on the free...had to manually uninstall and clean out junk Avira files by the ton with Regworkshop. So far, even with it's slowness - 360 worked the best...but I'm going to give one try to Avast (which I used to like w/ free version) - it's probably eventually run nothing or back to Eset.

Hello again and thank you for the comments. Sorry for the "we" in the post. We are identical twins right enough. 77 year old guys!!

Anyway, those were our personal thoughts. Being identical we have the same tastes. So Bitdefender Free suits us well. But others are welcome to their choice too of course. Reading this forum though may even change our choice at some point.

Just did a clean install (no previous AV) of the new version (from the web installer, newly downloaded from Bitdefender's site), Windows 7 64 bit. It did a product update after the first reboot. Says version 1.0.21.1099. Logs button worked this morning, doesn't work now. Not sure what else changed, but the Logs button issue is the same as it ever was.

On my Vista SP1 or 2 (I don't remember, I reinstalled Windows after BDF and Total Internet Security beta removal, it messed up everything) the logs were always working fine, it's the web shield or http scanning that was horrendously limiting my internet to just cutting it off!!!:(

Guys, unfortunatelly the truth is that this software is totally abandonware. It just updates signatures, nothing more. Must be masochist to keep trying it.

I scanned several malware packs using Bitdefender Free - you can see my review and tests at MalwareTips.
Once it detects malware, the logs work fine, every time, too.
It's detection rate is the same as Bitdefender AV and Bitdefender IS.
BUT, a couple of times during testing, Bitdefender Free was disabled by malware, and had to be reinstalled.
Also allowed a rogue AV to install, effectively locking the machine.
Not recommended, self protection is poor - the logs issue is the least of it's problems.

You know, it's hilarious how we complain about this abandonware, yet we continue to install it and review it. If we really want something to be done, we need to show that the product is crap and stop downloading, installing, reviewing, etc... They will probably realize that something need to be done when they notice the drop in downloads. This is a bad sign for them because it will mean that they are losing market penetration. Otherwise... same ol'
