Newbie Problems

Hi to all,
I am wondering if anyone can help a newbie please?
As i am trying to use ID-Blaster to change some ID'S on some of my programs,
but when i put in all the details all i get when i press the get Registry Key is:

Invalid Data - Please check your input

I have copied and pasted the info from some of the posts on this forum.
But i keep getting the same error message no matter what i try.
Even when i put in data from my Registry, even when i have put in the correct path.

Can anyone help please?

And also tell me why the setting for the Internet Explorer ID, that came with ID-Blaster will not stay ticked when i run the program?

I'm new to IDblaster so Please bare with me as we attempt to try and fix your problems.

1)Are you using the latest version of 2.0 ?
2)If it matters....what Operating System and version of Internet Explorer ?

Thanks for the reply.
The version of ID-Blaster i am using is v2.0.
My computer is setup as a dual-boot system of Windows 98SE (C:\) and Windows XP Home (D:\).
All of the updates from Windows Update have been installed, on both operating systems.
I have ID-Blaster setup on both systems, but it is the XP partition that i am trying to get to work with ID-Blaster.
My XP Internet Explorer version is shown on the image below, and it contains all of the updates for IE so far.

 

Johkaz....it appears to me that your list and mine are very much different. Have you or someone deleted any program items via ID-Blaster and then attempted to place them back ?

When ID-Blaster is installed....it has a default.ini file that shows in what order the program items will be displayed and their respective settings. That file can be found in the C:\Program Files\ID-Blaster Plus folder.

Notice the items in the pic below. They are in the order that a clean install of ID-Blaster places them via the above memtioned default.ini file.

Have you attempted to un-install ID-Blaster and then re-install ?

This is exactly as it is when i re-installed it yesterday.
I had some other problems, that i was trying to cure on another post on this forum.

While i was curing this problem, i had to un-install and re-install ID-Blaster.
But, since i originally installed ID-Blaster, i can remember that i have only had the list as shown in my image.
Although, the download that i installed is some months old now, but seeing as ID-Blaster has not been updated.
I still thought that it would be ok to use this download.

 

Would you mind uploading\attaching your default.ini file I mentioned in a previous post ?

I have done an un-install again of ID-Blaster and rebooted.
Then downloaded the file again form the Javacool site.
Installed and again, all i got showing was the items above.
Also in the .ini file i do have the following, but they don't seem to be loading fully?

I notice in your Edwido thread you linked to that many if not all your programs are being installed to the D: drive ? I have no clue if that has anything to do with what your experiencing....but I wonder.
Would you mind doing a search for any other default.ini files on ALL drives ?

Below is an image of all default.ini files on my computer.
Drives checked with the Search function in XP:
C:\, D:\, E:\, F:\, G:\, H:\

 

As you can see....you have 2 installs of the program which means 2 different default.ini files. I have no clue if that could be a problem\culprit.

Which default.ini file did you post above ?

Also....if you right click the shortcut that you use to run the program and look at the properties....what does it show as far as Target....in particular the drive letter ?

All of the default.ini files are the same as i posted above.
The C:\ drive is Windows 98SE.
The D:\ is Windows XP Home.
The default.ini file i posted above was copied/renamed to something else,
(In case i muckup the file itself) from the ID-Blaster folder in D:\ Program Files/ID-Blaster.

I think i have solved it.
Both were aiming to open with Notepad.
So sometime in the past i have opened both to check what they say, and destroyed the links to ID-Blaster.
I have pointed both to the ID-Blaster Plus.exe, and i will try again tomorrow to see how it goes.

 

The default.ini files....aiming to open with Notepad....is not a problem and there's no need to change their association. The Target I was speaking of was the shorcut that you click on to execute the program.

The original program is installed on D:\ (XP) and can be run from the Start Button\All Programs\ID-Blaster.
But as i did not want to keep going there to run it, i created a Shortcut to it and put that on the Desktop.
Also i added another shortcut made the same way, and added it to the Startup in the All Programs list.

I then did a reboot, and when i checked the program from the Taskbar, all of the four items are now ticked.
And it is running with only the same number of items in the list.

Would you mind highlighting the Internet Explorer ID entry and then select the Edit Selected Items button to the right and post that Edit box as an attachment ?

This is getting wierd now, i deleted both shortcuts and then re-installed them in XP.
And all i am showing now for default.ini files are the one's in C:\Program Files\ID-Blaster Plus.
And D:\Program Files\ID-Blaster Plus
