    i just upgraded to the new Win Patrol, then today i updated AwdCleaner then i ran a scan, has anyone had this happen?

    Key Deleted : HKCU\Software\BillP Studios
    Key Deleted : HKLM\Software\BillP Studios
    Key Deleted : HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{84481A87-2316-4923-8FAB-3BA8CA29323D}
    Key Deleted : HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Management\ARPCache\{84481A87-2316-4923-8FAB-3BA8CA29323D}

    After deletion a Win Patrol window opened and wants me to re-enter my lifetime license, didn't Bill just get through transferring ownership? Probably nothing to worry about but with reports of this company over here and that company over there doing things they shouldn't what do you think?

    :sick:

    I got something similar. I interpreted it as a false positive and canceled the scan.

    I believe the author (Xplode), having stated a "Major database update" was made in v3.213, is now in the process of an update.

    Yes - I too saw similar indications against my WinPatrol 2014 PLUS installs and I'm ignoring AdwCleaner as I would any other suspected false positive.

    F/P reported to Xplode. I notified BillP also.

    Edit Note: In the event anyone didn't notice the WinPatrol registry entries when scanning with AdwCleaner, they can be restored. To restore a file:
    • Launch AdwCleaner and click Tools > Click Quarantine manager.
    • Place a check in the box next to the file(s) to be restored.
    • Click Restore (a logfile will open).

    Not good. If AdwCleaner is removing the BillP Studios registry entries they are doing a great disservice to WinPatrol users.

    As pointed out, this will remove any PLUS name and code.
    While many of the registry entries will automatically be recreated without causing a problem it will remove any preferences, it will remove information we use in the First Detected column but worse, it will remove any Startup entries you moved to Delayed Start and any apps you've Disabled. All the information is critical to most users and in some cases will cause folks to reinstall other applications.
    There is the possibility of using the History button to recover most of the startup information but this is bad behavior by AdwCleaner. As most of you know, there has never been any adware associated with WinPatrol.

    I expect a new version will be released early next week and if there is anything we can do to protect users from AdwCleaner behavior I'll see it gets included. Thanks to Corrine for the best advice to anyone using AdwCleaner.

    Bill, could you please add the process tree option to WP?
    (if not taking too much RAM and/or CPU, of course).
    Maybe, it's already there, but I cannot find it.

    AdwCleaner 3.214 has been released, fixing (i.e., removing) the F/P of WinPatrol.

    Thanks for letting us know about the FPs from AdwCleaner on WinPatrol.

    I wished that the thread title would give some more detail info.
    Mods/admins, could you please change the thread title into something like:
    "WinPatrol - AdwCleaner giving FPs on WinPatrol"
