Obviously.......... That's why the screenshots (39,1 MB / 70,6 MB) taken when the PC was idle....... fyi also: I heard so many things (improvements, etc) re Update 5 but... In my PC's (3 pcs total) boot times & VDF update times remain the same as before with update 4. No any improvement with update 5.
Something may be the truth if They didn't completely rewrite the whole products code there were no significant improvement on both initialization speed and boot time Because the current all component loading method is following by v10~v13 these version is known as is worst initialization speed and affected the boottime very much, So change to xVDF or engine will not get a huge improvement
I agree with anon about improvements. The change is not that much....it still takes time to start scan(it was about 10 aec before and 7-8sec right now)....boot time has also changed little. Regarding resource usage,I do not have precise statics about prior versions but the new one will use 20-40mbs.(firewall control not activated) I found this link(from my favorite iranian website) for the offline installer: http://dl.softgozar.com/Files/Software/Avira_Free_Antivirus_2014_14.0.5.444_Softgozar.com.exe Question: Has nt "Avira's global download installs" fallen?!!! I think it was around 300m

the sad thing is the have been taken down the secure backup now there were no more secure back can be download from Avira website However I have ask the memopal(which is Avira OEM their products for secure backup) in twitter Their reply: So I"m still frustrate and don't know why Avira choose to discontinue the secure backup it is very useful for the users to backup and restore their files In addition, memopal is very active and happy for the partnership with Avira why don't you continue to provide
]The following bug noticed in 3 PC's: Avira Suite 2014 auto upgraded from Update 4 (Avira suite) to Update 5 (Avira Pro), no problems. As I wanted to perform a "clean" install I went to Control Panel → Programs → Programs and Features, click on Avira and a popup appears saying "your avira it's already uninstalled....!!!! bla-bla-bla". BS...... In order to uninstall the current installation, I had to run the new Avira Pro offline installer (via the "uninstall" option). Edit 1: Avira Download Center > Documentation = Business Products / Discontinued Products http://www.avira.com/en/downloads#documentation No more User Manuals for Home Products? Edit 2: Changelog Avira Antivirus Pro - Update 5 (pdf) ------------------------------- Avira to Roll Out ‘Avira Antivirus Pro’ to All Paid Users With Fastest Malware Engine Ever
for the most part yes the start up was resolved the only issue is still the time it takes to connect to the network, it does still take a bit but is better than before. otherwise my system starts right up now with no delays at all.
Today Avira Free updated to another new version namely: 14.0.5.450 But since they just released version 14.0.5.444, I was wondering what has changed in version 450?
I think aaa839 missunderstood what I wrote to him as private message: So, the scan engine that supports XVDF was released already within Update 4, but not activated due to further testing. The schedule back at that point was that the XVDF feature will be enabled with Update 5.1, but the schedule changed. So, the release of Update 5 does enable the XVDF feature and the VDF handling is much improved with it.
Is it just me having some graphical issue Or has The Avira GUI now changed from being Red and is Now white with Green dialog and has changed it's name from Avira Antivirus Suite to Antivirus Pro?
So out of curiosity what is the 'changelog' for the new 14.0.5.450 version? EDIT: When I turned on several other pc's in my home later this day, they oddly enough did not get the new update and are still on 14.0.5.444. Any reason for that? Has the update been pulled back perhaps for some reason?
i was told they roll it out in waves or groups. so some computers may get the update and others may not. at least thats what i was told by support.
