Memory usage in the current beta has been addressed. Expect no more than 40-50MB tops usage, possibly as low as 30-35MB. They continue to optimize the program with each revision.
There is a compatibility issue with feedly's javascript so Assistant is disabled there. Confirmed, thanks for reporting it! We'll fix it in 5.10. Created this change request in our bugtracker. Thanks for the feedback!
@avatar Quote "There is a compatibility issue with feedly's javascript so Assistant is disabled there" Out of curiosity i re-installed the browser extension and re-blocked some items in feedly. The cool thing was the windows adguard client recognized this and listed it in its ruleset. But when disabling the extension, these items reappear in feedly. Will this be something that will be addressed in version 5.10? Just wondering why the extension works but not the assistant. Not a big deal just curious.. Regards.
@TS4H This rule is added to windows client user filter, not to extension's. The problem is that we cannot fully synchronize user filters between extension and windows client (if you delete rule from windows client it won't be deleted from extension's user filter).
@avatar Will have yesterday's presentation of the new iOS 8, especially the new Swift programming language, impact on the development of your ad blocker for iPhone? A VPN is still only solution?
Since adguard forums are gashy, and after like 2 attempts to login it blocks me for 15 minutes, and the captchas are impossible to read I will post this here.. Adguard may be missing trackers. I installed Disconnect, and it's showing some getting through adguard, unless I am misunderstanding. But with Adguard disabled, much MORE come through, but with it enabled, a few still make it.. Thoughts? Check the image.
If you think that Adguard lets come through some trackers you can report them using "Submit a complaint on this website" and those trackers will be added to spyware and tracking filter.
Adguard blocks all those trackers. But I'll try to describe why you see them in Disconnect. If you use Adguard for Windows Disconnect is a browser plugin so it blocks request before the browser has even sent it. Adguard for Windows does it's job just after request has been sent (at least browser "think" it has sent it). So Disconnect blocks request before us. One important notice. Disconnect's counter is usually smaller with Adguard enabled. That is because Adguard removes some scripts from the webpage code so the page does not even try to send tracking request. If you use Adguard browser plugin I've tried to do the test with our plugin enabled and disabled and Disconnect's counter was the same. So as I understand Disconnect does not check if the request was blocked already and increments the counter in any case.
As i understand, the windows client is capable of blocking much more than any extension alone, hence there is no reason to use extensions like Disconnect or Ghostery and the like. However, Is there any benefit in using Adguard windows client with/without the assistant but with the Chrome extension instead? They seem to interact. Regards.
Anyone notice Adguard 'periodically' fails to connect, then the icon goes yellow, and remains yellow from that point on unless you uninstall/reinstall the product? This has happened 4 times over the last week a few of the 8 different PC's here. I checked my sons computer today, and found the icon yellow, randomly. My wife said it was yellow on her last night.. Both were only fixed by uninstalling/reinstalling the product. Note: This is the beta version I am discussing.
It's happened on 2 out of 8 machines, and only a couple of times. I haven't been able to isolate as to why this happens (yet). Hopefully Adguard devs can weigh in on it. Hitting 'reconnect' doesn't fix it. Only exiting, then end-task on adguard, with uninstall/reinstall seems to fix it.
Hi Doc! Could you please send me Adguard and Windows log files? Read here how to get Adguard log files. Read here how to get Windows log files.
Middle of July I hope. At first we thought 5.10 will be just a bugfix version, but we've got carried away with developing new features. Main features are: Filter subscriptions (we'll add an opportunity to use some of ABP subscriptions) Lower ram usage Web of Trust integration is explicit extension now (so you can disable it without disabling Assistant)
Great news, its just gets better and better!.......Really isn't anything else to choose now...Adguard all the way
