Avira just released a Beta Product update that addresses the following. Fixed the "blank pages" bug which led to incorrect displayed websites or completely blank pages if Web Protection is enabled. Fixed some Web Protection crashes which occurred during browsing.
I'm not convinced the web protection update fixed anything. It seems like I'm worse off now than before. I tried viewing the new av-comparatives chart which locked up my browser (Chrome) and my mouse became unresponsive. I could not ctr-alt-del to get out of it so I then had to hard reset. I turned off web protection and could view the chart just fine. I'm going to try a clean install later today.
I did a clean install 14.0.5.430 and had the same problem !! Only i was using Firefox Hard reset was my only option ......... Pfffff
no issues here. so far i have yet to find a webpage that is not loading properly. i just viewed the ac comp chart and it loaded fine and had no issues no freezing. interesting.
so can someone from avira tell me if i buy the normal av suite (not the "internet security" version) will this also be switched to the new av pro with the same features as if i buy the internet security version? in other words will the both be switched to the same version once the new pro gets released i need to buy a few lic's and im wondering if i should just buy the normal av or do i still need to buy the internet security version. thanks
Here we go: It does not matter which Suite product license you buy today. You can use the same valid license to install Avira Pro in future.
Today Avira Suite 2014 upgraded manually* from Product version 14.0.4.642 to Product version 14.0.4.672 Product version 14.0.4.672 uses the new xVDF *Run the installer (Avira Suite): http://www.avira.com/en/download-start-new/product/avira-antivirus-suite "on top" of the current installation > during the installation process select the "Repair/update" option > Done. Note: Your configuration settings will remain the same. -------------
Re free, I have no idea. You can check later on at MajorGeeks or Softpedia http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/avira_free_antivirus.html http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/AntiVir-Personal-Edition.shtml or check the official Avira Free offline installer: http://install.avira-update.com/package/wks_avira13/win32/en/pecl/avira_free_antivirus_en.exe ----------------- Update: Avira Free Antivirus 14.0.4.672
okay now today i had a hard lock 3 times. def a problem. the only thing i changed is i updated avira nothing else. so it has to be a result. it seems to be a result of either a flash conflict or something causing a script error (i get the script has stopped etc then usually it locks up)
No, but I have not seen the slow booting that others have seen. If you are expecting it because of the xVDF support I don't think it is not turned on yet (my 672 install still uses vdf files).
Not certain how I get this, can only see the detail log but does not seems to have a summary part. Looking at my install again you might be right in that I now have a lot of smaller x------.vdf files.
You can find the update logs in Avira Control Center -> Reports : Select a Report and click on icon: [ i ] = "Display Report file for the selected report".

Yes, but on above update nothing downloaded as your installation was up to date. Check later on another update report and if the downloaded files are your Avira uses the Current nVDF if they are then your Avira uses the new xVDF.
will the antivirus 2013 lic's also work? i have 3 unused ones still sitting here. i notice the 2014 is called antivirus "suite" where the 2013 is just called antivirus. thanks
I think it depends how long your license is valid, you can try install av-suite with the license and see if it will be accepted.
