Ok that's a very good news actually, give users the power of choice.

I wouldn't expect that these changes will happen:

1). Most companies want to increase their Social Media presence, so removing the Facebook link would be counterproductive.
2). Remembering that Qihoo is designing TS for the masses (many never having heard of something like CCleaner), the Cleanup function will be of value for the majority.
3). The Speedup function is of particular use in TS. Qihoo is not at all proficient at detecting Adware and Toolbars. The Speedup link gives the user an opportunity to at least detect and disable such things.

If one is annoyed by the presence of above, Qihoo IS can be used instead. As Avira adds nothing of significance to detection and the Proactive module of IS is superior, there seems little need to be distressed.

People asked for Sandbox in TS and got it, reasonably fast. I think it is reasonable to expect more customizable installation procedure, such as check box [a la comodo] whether you want to install additional modules, or simply have it disabled [like bd/avira engines for the first time] until you need particular function.
Or have a switch between Simple/Advanced usage mode. Those things CAN be done [Hell, Comodo did it], and Qihoo would be smart to find a golden line between first time users and users of more experience staring at the GUI half a day tinkering with the settings and doing things ordinary people wouldn't.
Not too simple and not too complex.

This didn't work with Windows 8.1.1 64-bit when I tried it. Has this changed now?

    Hi

I am wondering how safe the sandbox is in Qihoo 360 IS - does anyone have some knowledge about that .

For example - Sandboxie before version 4.0 had a type of general sandbox protection but with the 4.0 it got an advanced protection interwoven more with the hardware - so does anyone know how good this one is .

Is there any comparison one can do or a test on the net with facts or something of that sort .

This is not due to system file replacement (as someone else mentioned), but because 360 deletes the following registry key, and then tries to prevent its recreation:

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\taskmgr.exe

Under that key is/was a string value named "Debugger", with its data set to the path to PH. This is what allows PH to run in place of Task Manager.

Thanks! So -assuming that this software is developed by a company, and that is not a open source project- what's the catch?

Qihoo tries to prevent "unauthorized" system modification and restores it to functioning default. It is their system repair engine.
What I would recommend is to try and add whole FOLDER of ProcessHacker to white list.

I don't think that will make a difference, because 360 doesn't like those debugger values. I'd be shocked if it was smart enough to correlate debugger value data against exclusions. However, I altered the permissions on the applicable registry keys (set all permissions to "read"), and 360 has not touched them.

Understood. Do you think you could write them an email in detail explaining what you were trying to do and what would you like to see in the next versions so that you/others could avoid similar incidents in the future, that is, include registry exclusions or grant full access to the system for xyz program?
If you can, include screenshots too...

That is only a difference in database like letter R 4917 , before that there was Q 4916.

    Official version is still 4.9.0.4901

I just downloaded 360 Internet Security from their site and installed it on Windows 8.1 Update 1. Running good so far. I can't find the change log for 4.9.0.4901. Only 4.9.0.4900.

For a free app, using top antivirus defs, that's good enough. Pairing with it's own cloud defs, you should be OK if you browse normally.
If not, just contain browser in a sandbox, no biggie....

Just saw the statistics, and it updates ~10 seconds.
360 cloud engine blocked today: 3.738.243
    QVMAII engine blocked today: 1.434.282

These are already OLD numbers, and increasing....
    This should tell something....

I am running 360 Internet security on a WIN 7_Prof Laptop, it shows the version 4901 (64-bit),
at the same time on my WIN 7_ultimate desktop it shows 4900 (64-bit),
and both say they are up-to-date.

    ...

I would like to know, if there already ia a workaround to the problem, that -when logged in on WIN 7 computer with restricted rights, as I always do- I have to enter the admin password in order for 360 internet security to run ...
