Can someone perhaps give some more info about the sandbox, perhaps with screenshots? :)

Is it as advanced as Sandboxie for example?

Interesting, working fine for two days then I switched the laptop on this afternoon and found both the spyware & Virus protection were switched off in the security centre. Anyone else had this issue?

Can anyone confirm if Total Security like 369 IS asks for admin rights when started?

    Sand Box non-functional Windows 8.1 64 bit

The "Bitdefender" icon seems grayed out, & hoovering over it, I see a red gage line + X & some verbiage, is my Bitdefender not functional, or how to see it it's working total.png TS.png

Also "Network Protection" says my "Linksys E3000" router is not supported

I quite like it. It's very fast and doesn't consume much resources even with all engines enabled (for real-time!). I just don't like the Facebook nonsense. Wh are everyone so obsessed with these stupid social networks in every ~snipped~ thing....

Srsly, since when is "darn" an offensive word!? I'm pretty sure i've used that...

It also seems to have problems knowing what's latest. On laptop it's 2014-06-01 defs, on tablet it's 2014-05-31 as latest and on PC it still thinks 2014-05-26 is the latest. Wtf!?

    Hi
I get and like the idè behind TS in difference to IS but i do not like the lack of info about the results after scans - for example - it found 1,8gb ! ? to clean from my pc and not telling what either before or after - hmm .

My pc is newly reinstalled and i ran Windows diskcleaning tool and Ccleaner yesterday so i really wonder what thoose 1,8gb`s came from .

It also found a virus threat that i got a message of what it was first after it cleaned it and it was totaly harmless - picky program .

There is to much that potentially can go wrong over time with ones computer if using TS so i do not think it is ideal for regular costumers - especially if that one do not know for shure what he is doing .

So right now i do not think i can recommend it to clients especially click happy ones that like programs like toy`s (as many do) but it is a sort of a good step forward .

I hate the fact that TS wants to fiddle with countless things i don't want changed. With powerful quad and 18GB of RAM i seriously have no need for some moronic tweaks that usually do more bad than good. Just give me the AV and remove the stupid speedup/cleanup/Facebook crap.

Regarding the definition updates in 360TS- As has been noted the listed date of the last update in TS may be (surprisingly) a day or two in the past even after running a manual update. I wasn't certain if this was just that the date itself wasn't being changed or the defs really weren't being downloaded and applied (and if the latter, would this make any difference in system protection). Obviously a test was needed and was conducted in this manner:

1). A total of ten malware samples were found for which Qihoo did not have definitions via an on-demand scan. These were run in order to verify both that they were indeed malicious and that no further Cloud detection existed. The samples were saved.

2). After 48 hours the QihooTS system was started and a manual update was done. It was verified that the listed definition date was the same as it was 2 days prior. An on-demand scan was done with the results noted, and all remaining undetected samples were run.

The results for this admittedly (very) small test were that of the ten malware samples an additional file was detected via on-demand scan. The other nine were detected via the Cloud when the files were run. I'm not sure why that one file was detected locally when it was missed 2 days ago; either the scanner just passed it by initially (doubtful as I triple run scans for consistency) or a marginal update did get processed without any indication that was apparent. Need to follow up on this.

Aside from this it was evident that even if local definitions are not current, the Cloud detection is. I detected no time lag between malware killed locally and those killed solely by the Cloud. In other words in real-world use a user couldn't tell by what method the malware was stopped without referring to the logs.

Finally it should be noted that I haven't had time to verify if improvements were made to the Proactive module; also as I find an on-demand sandbox to be only a bit better than useless I can't really comment on it.

I wish they atleast had 1 resident engine of BD or Avira turned on by default!? Because its just like a cloud AV on stock settings.

If a product uses the same engine of another product and the same definitions, do they have exactly the same detection rate if we stop all other proactive and hips defences?. And if this the case, why do 360 IS and Bitdefender have different scores in on-demand scan tests?

No, the product can also use in-house developed technologies, and other Cloud powered features.

I can confirm that Total Security works a lot smoother when fast user switching between a LUA and admin account compared to 360IS.

I have my doubt if these engines are working good, i did a test with a few malware samples when avira free was installed, it detected them with no problem, one day later i downloaded the same samples with Total installed and all 5 engines active ... guess what TS didn't detect them even with avira engine active, TS said samples are ok _ lol !!
So my feeling is these engines are not working properly.... so not satisfied with TS and all this kids stuff.

Inquiry: Did you try to run those missed samples?
Statement: My experience was that some malware exe files are not detected, but when run, extracted components get detected and blocked. In fact, even in Sandbox if a malware is trojan it will get detected when run.
