    I can't remember if 1.75 has self-protection ( ? ) I suggest uninstalling/reboot/reinstalling v2.0.2 - make sure you have your license information backed up.

I have had 2.0.2.1012 running here for a few days with no problems (windows 8.1 64bit and Vista 32 bit). Seems much better than the previous release. Personally I would still the advertising removed from the GUI, but this version is a step in the right direction.

no problems here. Malwarbytes is in my mind one of the best programs out there and has been for a very long time. if a person can cough up whatever it cost to own mc affee ect and can not this program, they are a hurting breed.

Thanks for the advise, but on re-booting I'm back to only one icon again.:D

    Hello twl845:

This happens quite infrequently and the MBAM2 project QA/Devs are trying to trap this illusive rarity, while it is present, and with guided minidump procedures and diagnostic logs.

If this happens to any MBAM2 consumer-premium user, and you are able to participate, permit this condition to continue and log into your Malwarebytes forum account and begin a topic in the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Help sub-forum.

As far as is known, MBAM2 system protections will not be lessened while this condition is present. If however you do not wish to assist, a system restart has always corrected the immediate issue.

    Thank you all. :)

If the double icon returns I'll go to the MBAM forum, but so far it's back to one after a reboot. Just a note FYI. I had enabled Self Protection Module, and start up increased to 90 seconds. Un-enabled start up is 60 seconds as it usually is on my set up.

Out of the untold thousands of MBAM2 users, we have only read of a handful (with me once included). Yet it still needs to be trapped, analyzed and fixed.
IMHO this may be an undesired artifact of an MBAM2 protected, yet briefly resource starved, system during startup. Still, we forum helpers are strongly recommending you enable, and sustain, the Self Protection Module.

    Thanks twl845. :)

OK I'll re-enable it. I wonder if it has anything to do with the double icon. I'll post back if it does.

    Outstanding! :)
Two instances of mbam.exe (witnessed by two PIDs) are present when user discovered. With so few known data points, I'm leaving speculation to the MBAM2 developers.

    HTH :)

Don't know if THIS issue has been fixed, but I did a scan on my friends Win 8 computer about 3 weeks ago, then removed the bad stuff and no more internet connection! Somehow got it back, I forget now.

If you reread your own critical posts then that wouldn't be exactly ethical would it?

I also think it should be done differently or removed. We're working on it.

Thanks, that's exactly what we need to fix these issues. We don't WANT blue screens :).

Appears the crashes are due to the driver trying to write to read only memory. That Is wut I C anyway

    Hello controler:

It is not at all clear what you are referring to. Would you please reference a previous post# for clarity?

    Thank you. :)

Have you looked at the BSOD dump files to ID the cause?

  19. Have a lifetime license (thx MBAM), tried it with V2 no problems, wondered where all the complaining was about. Buckles up my MBAM image and updated, to find out scanning takes ages and freezes my PC. Confident they iron out all the 2.0 issues. Average program launch delay with all MBAM protection on is still half of the average Anti Virus

ditto. me too. with MBAM it eventually freezes at random - no dump files or items in event logs. usually after i leave it scanning with firefox running. uninstalled it for now, no more freezes. will try next version when it comes out

Could you describe the "freezing"? Does MBAM appear stuck on Heuristic Analysis at the end, or do you mean the computer actually locks up and you're forced to hard boot?

    Hello silver0066:

If you have any of your Minidump files from the BSODs, we would like to help you and see your .dmp files posted in Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Help.

    Thank you.

V2.0.2 running fine on both Win7 and Win8.1 boxes.
I also noticed though that after running a scan with 'Check for rootkits', it doesn't show 'Scanned for rootkits' in the scan log. The snap-larger-than-50%screen is also still present.
But no BSODs, no freezing (final heuristic analysis can take a while but no freezing), no horror stories to share nor any need to repeatedly promote the selling of MBAM lifetime-licenses.
Never mind the need to jump ship and board SAS, ffs.

the latter. mbam running behind firefox while i browse, or behind screen saver if i wander off, it just locks everything. nothing responds, no mouse movement, no keyboard, desktop clock which shows seconds also stops. ctl-alt-del does nothing. no bsod, no entries in win7 event logs, no .dmp files, after i push the reset button & reboot. no evidence of memory leakages, total mem use stays around 25% of my 16GB with or without mbam. it may have been at the heuristic section, but i could not get to it to see.

i am running emet 5 tec preview 2, but had the same problem before on emet 4 release version, mbam not in emet's app list in either case. i also run outpost security suite v9.1 but never had any conflicts with mbam before on the earlier versions. even tried uninstalling OSS.
