Just tried the latest beta on Win 8.1 pro x64 & it was causing thumbnails to load slowly, opening any folder with either images or videos was slow as it was loading the thumbnails one by one even though the thumbnails were already created & stored. Also noticed there is much more of a system slowdown even on a SSD, browsers took a second or two more to open same with opening other apps.

Sorry to say, I noticed these exact same things.

Mbam feels VERY HEAVY on a system now.. So heavy, I've simply uninstalled it from 6 machines(yes, 6 licenses), and switched to Eset+Appguard+Adguard. Looks like I will check back with Mbam in 6-12 months. Taking Mbam 'heavy' is counter to everything it stands for in my opinion.

Who knows, Herdprotect has their 'AV complimentary' product coming out free in a few weeks, that might be my Mbam replacer.

Neither on two Win 8.1 machines I am running (MBAM build 1010). But I have to admit that maybe I do not understand what the Doctor meant by saying: MBAM feels very heavy.

The process is actually very quick for me, and has been since v2 was first released. So I haven't had this problem personally. In fact everything is running fine now, and it seems very stable. I'll be sticking with it.

As for the context menu snafu... I should have noticed it. It's not like it was hard to find. Plus I don't agree that it should be enabled by default. Things generally should not be... it's the whole opt-in/opt-out thing. An entry shouldn't be added to your shell unless you did so with intent. So I don't blame them for that either.

Though I would like to see it trimmer/shorter, as I mentioned. My context menu is twice as long as it would be otherwise just because of that 1 (lengthy) entry. Because I keep a tidy context menu and don't just go adding everything there. No WinRaR entries and stuff like that. And I received a PM from one of the devs saying they'd address this concern in a future update, which is good news.

I think they did a very good job with this. For a new version it seems very stable. I'm not experiencing the problems many are reporting.

The problem is that your system is too light :p

    Actually the more speedy a system, the more impact anything has. Allow me to explain;

An Indy Car driver adjusts fine details, and feels all of them, they all have an impact. Even 3PSI in the tires can change a race, and how the car feels. The reason is tolerance is much more strict, experience is at a higher level to where the driver has learned to feel these things. On a fast PC, run by a gamer, tolerance is strict, they are discerning, and feel even slight changes. On a slow or average computer, run by a soccer mom, she won't notice much unless it is 'extremely drastic', otherwise it's just go check facebook, things run good, log off and go knit some socks. On our 6 and 8 core machines even a 'tiny' drag is magnified. When you wait 0.25 seconds 'average' for a web page to load, even a 10th of a second changes the ball game. When you are on a 15ms ping, 65MBPS connection, even a tiny nudge downward on the speed becomes magnified.

My father inlaw never noticed anything, I could put the heaviest AV on his system, and he wouldn't complain. Now with a faster machine, he's always saying 'I think that slows it down'. Funny how that works. It's all about tolerance.

Any news about the program update?

  13. I wished the IP-filter could be installed as option. I would leave it out since I already have an IP-filter.

If the developer doesn't do anything else to this release, please, please give us the option back to turn off IP block alerts. There are times I'm streaming something from my computer to my TV, and I get bombarded with pop-ups on the screen. It can do its job without driving MBAM users up a wall.

I see nothing wrong with it. People tend to be impatient and ask "when it's going to be released? Any ETA?"
Now when they give out date and it passes, people are like "Promises ..."

It's beta and things can change during the test period. Nothing wrong with that in my opinion. At least they don't keep us blind. It's about to be released any time soon :)

I agree, it's just been 3 days and the dev said it was expected to come May 12th, not that it was 100% guaranteed. Be thankful you're not waiting on AdMuncher, lol.

I wonder why scan for rootkits isn't part of the recommended detection and protection settings?
