Hi J R, thats what we were talking about a few days ago. I think this problem is older than Firefox 29. On my XP, I can set Firefox to clear history when Firefox closes and don't experience a problem but that is something that I have not being able to do in my W7 ever since the first time that I wanted to do that a few months ago (by changing setting from "Never remember history" to using "Use custom settings for history" and setting Firefox to Clear history when Firefox closes).

bo, correct, and that's why I posted it!

I read somewhere that this bug appeared in FF27, but I can't find it now. In any case, for those who are still having issues, they're working on it. :)

I cant recall exactly when I tried to use custom settings for history instead of "Never remember history" for the first time but it could have being while using Firefox 27 (released on February 4th this year). I know I played with those settings within the last six months. By the way, the original reason why I decided to change settings from "Never remember history" to custom settings is because I noticed some history was still left around when using Never remember history. History that I don't see in the XP anymore.

@bo elam is there any special reason why you don't let Sandboxie take care of browsing history? Wouldn't that take care of this issue?

If you allow bookmarks to be saved out of the sandbox, history gets saved as well. File "places.sqlite" is used by Firefox to save both, bookmarks and history.

    Hi JR,

This started for me the day I first installed FF25 and has been on going with every version since. FYI, I've had the same after changing the setting recommended by Bo two or three times, but nothing like I was seeing it before making that change.

This version of FF has been nothing but an annoyance due to the failure of closing properly. I've gone through every method suggested by our forum members and nothing has changed. Firefox has always had this problem as far back as Version 3.6/4, but never to this extent. I hope that they get this fixed soon, but considering memory leaks have been with the browser since its birth and the process issue has been around since 2011, I won't hold my breath. On a positive note, I do like the redesign, even if it took a bit to get used to icons being moved around. No longer can I move my mouse with my eyes closed and know precisely what button I'm on, lol.

If you like Firefox but don't like what they've done to it give Pale Moon a try.. works in Linux as well.. I've been using Pale Moon on and off for years.. :)

I don't have any interest in using any more forks really, and I'm fairly certain most of underlying code is the same. I tried Palemoon in its earlier days and never cared much for it. Thanks though.

I think you may be looking for Options/Tabs/Un-checking "Warn me when closing multiple tabs".

    @mantra

    In about:config

    Search for

    browser.tabs.warnOnCloseOtherTabs

Double-click it to set its value to false

    Done

On XP I had a horrible experience with the newest FF (couldn“t make use of the tabs), shame on Mozilla. :thumbd:

    Hi Bo,

I've tried that but for some reason I can't get FF to "Never remember history". It keeps changing back to "Always use private browsing mode". It was under control for a while but I'm back to having to close firefox.exe in Task Manager nearly every time I use FF. Same thing on two W7 x64 machines.

At this rate I am seriously considering doing the same thing to FF as I've already done with Chrome - Completely remove it!
