We got lucky on this... Four of us were testing this and two of us could always post replies with no problem, while two others experienced the exact same thing you did.

We narrowed it quickly to ad blocking. There was something in the thread that was triggering Ad blocking filters, which prevented the ability to post replies in the thread.

One solution was to simply disable the Ad blocking. That always allowed replying. But, we wanted to see if we could narrow it down further. It made the most sense to think it'd be one of the two links in the thread. One person was able to reply once the last link line was removed. But, the other could not.

It wasn't until we changed the title of the thread that everyone could reply okay.

I used the original first line of the thread as the new title. Here is the updated link to that thread:

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thr...-out-customers-with-creepy-new-tactic.363154/

If you still can't reply, you may have to override ad blocking while doing replies there.

It works now for me, without overriding ad blocking. Thanks a lot for the work and investigating :)

Why would Ad blocking cause that, if there NO Ads on here ?

Ad blocking software works off of many things, some of which are fairly simple "signatures" if you will... like anti-virus software.

JR narrowed it down to an Easylist rule(?) that includes: "###RelevantAds, ||verizon.com/ads/, verizon.com##.AdIn" and some more.

Now, look at that and compare it to the original title of the thread (as shown in the orignal link):

    Code:
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/verizon-relevant-mobile-advertising-program-enhancement.363154/
Changing the title stopped that rule from firing. Why? I haven't the slightest idea. But, when you think of signature type rules, imagine the possibilities of false positives. For that simple thread title to cause a filter to block posting... little sense can be made of that.

I'm very sorry that my thread caused such trouble. Thank you, and good job, to each of you for zeroing in on a fix. JR as in JRViejo? Would you be open to a brief PM/conversation about this?

It was indeed JRViejo who figured out the ad blocker rules. He knows the most about all this.

Just FYI, to name names... stapp and I were the ones who did not have the problem, so, we were the control. JR and Ron were the ones who could recreate it, so, they did the individual tests.

It was a long day of testing.

Thanx for the explanation, & to the others for helping to sort it out.

I had stated in another a separate thread(Your Past Threads and Posts) on what I'm about to ask before I found out about this thread, but with the old forum software, it listed your threads and posts in your profile. However, I've noticed that it doesn't with the new forum software. Therefore, have they gotten rid of that feature? And if so, I thought that was a very helpful feature because you were able to access your previous posts and threads from the last time that you visited the forum. But now you have to look for your threads and posts. :(

This usually doesn't happen. Why am I getting logged out automatically after a few minutes today? I'm not using the SSL version. o_O

The problem still persists BTW. I have logged in for at least four times in this session. Others have this problem as well?

Typically, these types of problems are related to the security or privacy settings on your system. (If there was a global problem with the forum software, everyone would be experiencing the same thing. Most people are not. A few people are.) Whether it is specific settings in the browser, or some security software running on your system, something is filtering or blocking your access. Most times, when you are clicking along and suddenly you find yourself logged out, it's because the account credentials are not being passed back from cookies in your browser. Cookie handling is a place to start looking. Also, all those "extreme privacy" settings in various browsers... if you are using any of those, they could cause this issue. Filtering firewalls, HTTP scanning, malicious script blockers, any of these might be the source.

All I can say from my perspective is I have tried every major browser and do not have this problem. However, I run no security software on my system, and never use those incognito and other browser access modes. And, I allow all cookies and scripts from this site. With that, everything works as expected.

All my browser settings and HTTPSB policies are what they have been set before this problem occurs. I actually have a theory of what is the culprit. I'll post about it after I am certain of this being the source of this problem.

Aaaand I was right. I applied the trick 1803 a while ago and suddenly I got this problem. I didn't know that 1803 will block cookies. o_O But then again, many things were changed in Windows 8, so when 1803 blocks downloads in older Windows OSes, perhaps it was messing around with cookies in my computer instead. I set it back to its default value (1 if I'm not being mistaken) and now the problem is gone.

Apologize for the unnecessary complains.

Unless someone tells me what is wrong with the xF favicon... why would I change it? It's got the same color scheme we do. I like that dark blue, it's like the upper navbar background color. Looks really nice to me.

We've never had a Wilders Security favicon. For 9.5 years we had the vBulletin favicon displayed here. Then, more lately, when we converted to XenForo, we've had theirs. Why now is anyone expecting a Wilders Security favicon? What exactly would one look like?

We display the favicon of the forum software we run. That's always what we've done. I don't see why I'd change that now.
